Emaxx brushlees set-up - 09.12.2007, 05:08 PM

Hello,
I have just purchased my 1st e-maxx. I want to set it up with a brushless setup.(motor & speedcontrol) I need to know what would be the best set-up for me.
I have 2 new 7.4v 8000 mah max amp batts

This is what I'm looking for-
Something that is smooth with some what violent acceleration and reliable

I have a stampede with a mamaba max 5700 system on it with a 9.6v batt, and it is fun. This the kind of fun I want with the E-maxx

What do I do? I'm new to the RC world?

Mike

Cheap: feigao/wanderer 8xl with a mamba max esc. Will need to disable the mm bec and use an external bec or receiver pack to power servos. Run your lipos in series to get 4s and gear for around 40mph. Will be much more fun

Not so cheap: use an mgm compro esc with a neu motor of around 1800-200kv, a 1512 size will be fine. The compro had a switching bec so an external is not necessary. Wire lipos for 4s and gear for 40mph

With either setup a upgrade slipper clutch will be necessary, strope seeems to be the bes, I just modify mine to use the revo slipper. Not sure how handy you are, as that requires a drill press and good eye!!

Either setup will run very well and be very powerful.

You can use a noval 6500 hv system as well, it is much tamer than the above but can use the stock pinion and has gearing instructions to work well in the emaxx. It will be much more user freindly and many people like the novak setup.

Thanks,

I talked to mike and i'm going to go with the wanderer 8xl and the mamba max esc.

I have one question though? How do you disable the BEC in the mamaba max?

Yeah, budget is the biggest issue, we need to know that first before making recommendations.

Violent acceleration = lots of upgrades before you start since that kind of driving will shredd gears and diffs rather quickly (if not instantly) in the Emaxx.

Disconnet the red from the reciever lead. Leave the brown and orange wire intact.

Edit: check out this site from the Mod BrianG. He has posted a bunch of useful information.
