HV-Maxx problem!!! -
09.22.2007, 08:16 PM
Hi all,
I finally decided to stuff my HV-Maxx system with the 4.5 motor in my TC3 Truggy. I set it to program #2 (Forward/Brake only). I put the truggy on the ground and gave it a little throttle and nothing. I pushed it and it went, but it was cogging a lot. I picked it up and gave it full throttle and the blue & green status light came on which means locked rotor. My drive train is running smooth and I had no problem with my BK 7018 and Lehner Basic 5300 with the same gears. The spur is 81T and the pinion is 23T. Has anyone had or is having this problem and found a solution for it?
Regards.

This only seems to be affecting the 4.5 motor setup, not the 6.5. It might be worth shooting a PM to the guy on the Novak support sub-forum, forgotten his name.

For any Novak users with technical questions or other issues, please email charlie@teamnovak.com directly. Try not to use a free email account, as they often get caught in our spam filters.
I do know that running our systems without a load---free revving---can damage the motors.

I tried running the system without a load just to see if it would start normally, but it didn't. I will try a brand new 4.5 motor to see if the problem goes away. If that doesn't help, I'll send the system to Novak to find out what the problem is.

Interesting problem, lutach. I will assume it ran perfectly in whatever vehicle it powered before.* Your motor wires look ok but I would check the little sensor wires and make sure there are no shorts etc. Maybe one plug backed out of the white connector? If a sensored system has issues with cogging, 99% percent of the time its a problem with the sensors. Also, have you reversed the servo direction? If so, did you re-program the radio afterwards?
*Wait, it's new. It didn't power anything before...

I will check the sensor wires to make sure none backed out.
