First watercooled rtr vehicle! Concrats Finedesign! - 10.12.2007, 10:25 AM

One way to camouflage the shortcomings of a hot running motor.. Instead of choosing a better motor, just add a pound of cooling system..

I am hearing that song of the steve miller band..

Go on.. Take the money and run.. Whoo hooow...

I like the use of a cooling coil and a fan! I am sure that it makes the feigao run cool, I never have any issues with my boats that have those motors in them. Not sure how well that coil will work, but it will do something. I wonder why the esc would need watercooling, it is only doing forward control so i would have thought that it would not heat up so much, maybe the higher kv motor he is using is causing the heat problems!?!?

Funny, he has a controller capable of 6s, which would allow for a much lower kv motor and negate the need for water cooling, boost runtimes and probably weight the same. 2s lipo = cooling system weight?!. Plus it would be simpler, and run cooler too. Oh well, to each his own!

I saw that one too

Toolboxes

Why not use even cheaper lipos and wrap the cooling hose around it too

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I'd rather buy me an inferno, some cheap elecs from unitedhobbies and do it myself...

BTW: I always wondered where to get these motor clamps to but electric motors on nitro mounts?

I've had my experiences with my initial purcahses from FDM when I was first learning about brushless.

All I can say is that I bought 4 of the 2S 3700mAh lipos from him and I almost s**t myself when I discovered that when they were a year old 1 of them puffed just sitting in storage. About 2 months later the other 3 packs all puffed the same way. Needless to say that was about $500+ down the drain.

I've never had any other lipo puff up on me like that (and we're talking owning TP, Kokam, Orion, TrackPower, and MaxAmps packs).

Just as a side note - I read this about a puffed or vented pack somewhere - it said put the pack in salt water and put a knife through it. They didn't happen to mention how volatile the chemistry in the lipos really are. When I put the knife through the pack it literally melted the last 1/2" of the knife to the point where it looked like it came out of a blast furnace.

After learning my lesson, all I can say re: FDM is - "JUST SAY NO!!!"

I know that Mike doesn't advocate knocking other guys, but I just don't possess the restraint or tact that Mike does. CF is a POS and this is just a shameless exhibition of how far he is willing to go to make a buck.

I know that guys are running Feigaos in boats with the water cooling and are NOT having heat issues. The water cooling does do the trick of masking the shortcomings of those inexpensive motors. On the other hand, I also know guys running Neus in their boats with no cooling at all and they aren't having heat issues either.

It seems to me that this is just another way for CF to be able to put more of your $ in his pocket. Instead of all of that crap, he could just put a Neu motor on the model and sell a better product, although it will have a higher production cost.

Yeah, strap an neu motor to the fd one. Neus never get hot, so they must be great heat exchangers!
