BK warrior 9920 with 6S on 12Xl - 10.21.2007, 11:05 AM

Has anyone tried this combo on one of the larger monster trucks? It seems like it would be a nice setup that keeps the amps down and still get a good amount of power. I was thinking about running this combo in my Tower Terror. Right now I am running 4S with a 10L motor and it runs pretty good. I think the 6S power on a lower kv motor would pull less amps and I could get a bit more power out of it. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't...I tried 6S/10XL/9920 and a 7020. Fried both almost right after I plugged them in. Something to do with the ESCs not being able to handle 6S I'm assuming. Even though there rated for it....

That's kinda weird. Right off the charger, 20 NiMH cells is ~28v and 6s lipo is 25.2v. Do you remember exactly what blew on them?

Same goes for a german guy with a BK9920, Wanderer 20xl10, 6s Flightpower 3700. He blew his ESC too in a 4.3Kg (9.5lb) Monster Truck. 6s seems to be too much for a BK9920 especially if you use it a lot at partial load. It will heat up quickly ...

I ran 6S, 7XL, and 9920 on my LST...
and the 12XL on 6S is very nice... especially with the 9920...

I'm not really sure. I think its only select 9920's.

Brian, I'm not an expert, but from what I could tell, it was right at the battery leads on one, so I figured it was the voltage. The other just plain caugh fire...

Wow, that is weird. Does anyone know the part numbers of the FETs and the ratings of the caps? That would necessarily define the V rating of the ESC, but at least it would narrow down the possibilities.

I cant comment on the esc since I have never owned one. As for the motor I think 6s on a 12xl will work very well. I have a 12xl and run it on 5s with out any problems.

i'm not sure if this fits in this discussion, but i'm running a 9920 with a kb08xl and it handles the current its pulling so far. it runs a little warm, but nothing i can't hold my hand on as long as i want. i don't have a temp gun yet to check it with that. i would think my motor would pull more current than a 12xl does.
