Revo motor selection dilemma - 10.31.2007, 11:40 AM

I've recently installed the Revo hybrid diffs-buggy gear ratio. Now with this setup I'm having a hard time picking a motor to use with the MM on 4s. I have read that there is success with MM/Neu combo but I don't want to take my chance. This means I would have to pick the 1515 1.5d(2700kv) to get aroune 40mph with 16/38 gearing. Does this sound about right?

If I go with 8xl the setup will get too hot.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I would go with the 2200kv motor and get a bigger pinion gear. Speed is all in the gearing.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

I agree with jhautz in that the speed is in the gearing. Personally, I'd go even more conservative with a 2.5d (1700kv) to leave the door open for 5S and 6S in the future. If you are going to stick with 4S, the 2200kv Neu would be perfect, even for some 5S running.

My only apprehension would be with running the Neu with the MM in a truck. I'd opt for a Compro controller. The 16018 should do fine.

BTW, if you are looking for a 1.5d, I have one that's doing nothing and looking for a new home.

I have exactly your setup, revo with hybrid buggy diff, gear 16/38 with Neu 1515 1y,MM controler and Flightpower 4s, and i'am in love with this setup. Lot of torque, very good top speed, about 35m/h and can gear higer without any problem to reach about 40.

I've zero cogging with my Neu/MM setup gear on 16/38.

Next sumer, i'am plan to go to 5s, gear 16/36.

Good luck
