Trouble with mamba maxx 5700 magnets ( I think) - 11.06.2007, 01:12 AM

G'Day I have posted this in the brushless forum but was advised to post it here.

I have a new mamba maxx 5700 motor that i have installed into a Traxxas Jato.
The motor sounded like it was cogging.
I took the pinion gear of the motor and the motor still sounded like it was cogging ( No gears connected, just motor sitting by itself)

I removed the back plate of the motor and took the shaft out.
What I have found is the magnet is in 3 pieces. This seams a bit odd.

Can I order new a new magnet for this motor? I take it that the magnet is a one piece or is it supose to be 3 seperate magnets?

Just trying to find out why it has a cogging sound and when I removed the shaft with the magnets, They came out as 3 pieces and look as if they have been broken.

I realise that now that i have taken it apart it won't be covered under waranty but as i am from Australia it would still cost a bit in freight.

Any information appreciated.

Yea, I have done that about 2 days ago and still no reply from them.
Not too sure why they have not replied.
So I thought I might try here.

They can take a while to respond - did you take any pics - I believe they will take email evidence from overseas people.

I'd include in the pics with something to show it is yours and current... I'm sure they have been scammed before...

FYI 5700 is quite small and fast for a jato IMO which they may also point out. Best case you might be looking at $45 for a write off replacement.

Yea, I have geared it back far bit with a 14T pinion and 58T spur.

I think that all that I really need is a replacement magnet for it.

Doese anyone know where I can get replacement magnets for them from?

its really difficult to put magnets back on the rotor...your best chance is to find someone who is wiiling to sell you a mamba motor and just replace the rotor....(all the rotors in all the max motors are identical.)

Or you could just use the motor you bought without taking it apart.
