Novak HV esc - 11.10.2007, 06:33 AM

I am wondering is it possible to run a sensorless brushless motor something like a Feigao XL and use my novak HV esc ? My 6.5 motor die on me the other day , should I replace with another 6.5 ?

No, you can't. a non sensored motor needs an esc that determines the rotors position by the back emf of the stator/rotor, but the hvmaxx determines it by the feedback it gets from the sensors in the motor.

What happened to your 6.5 motor? and how old is it?

If the motor is new, return it and it will be replaced under warranty.

If it is no longer under warranty, return it for replacement with a remanufactured 6.5T HV (with new 120 day warranty) for $42.00.

Well my HV motor is out of warranty and living outside of the US makes shipping expansive. The motor will only run if I gave my truck alittle push otherwise the ESC is in locked rotor protection mode whenever I pull the trigger.

Hopefully you have plenty of hills/mountains where you live.

Novak's international distributors are expected to follow the same non-warranty replacement procedures in their markets as we do here in the US.

You can email for a diagnosis of your problem and we can help you with your distributor. If the items were not purchased from an int'l Novak distributor, we'll see what we can do to help.

(Please, do not use a "Hotmail" account, as it will probably fet caught in our spam filter.)

Might be the ESC, I've had 2 HV's fail running the 4.5 motor. Both times they said locked rotor. Both times novak said the motor was fine and replaced the esc.

Much like rap music you just have to "roll with it!"

At least when your rc motor craps out.
