kb45 motor + 6s2c a123 = insane - 11.25.2007, 10:11 PM

i got my first chance to run my setup today with the new packs i made. it was a bit nasty outside since its been raining for the past two days, but i couldn't wait any longer.

setup is emaxx flm ext chassie, hybrid bulks, hot body hardend diff rear, reg. hot body diff up front, 7k diff lube in both, hardend steel idler gears in stock emaxx 2speed, bk9920 esc, kb45xl 1700kv, 26t pinion, 66t spur, and 6s1c x2 a123 packs.

i didn't know i see this much power go through this truck. i would compair it to my rc18t i had running a wraith7k/quarke33amp on lipo. it's nuts. i had to go to my dad's house since my ditches hold too much water. he has gravel roads that shead water pretty good. even in these conditions (wet gravel and wet grass), i could wheelie and toss the truck around like crazy. i can't wait to get it out on a nice day with dry ground. my dad kept commenting on how much the tires were ballooning, but i lost him when i said thats nothing since they're duct taped on the inside. he was only seeing the sidewalls stretch out. i did get some gear clicking a few times, and i really hope its not in the diffs, i don't know whats stronger and when i hit the asphalt their gunna get a workout. only damage was a lost wheel nut just as i was about to stop and clean her up.

i guess i'll ad some pics. ignor the wireing, it'll be fixed, i just needed to get this thing going again.

You have to get video, because I have yet to see 1 video of a kb45 in a truck.

I must see it go

it'll probably run that fast on 6S... I could "never" give it full throttle...

but if using A123, you'd need atleast 6S2P.. it pulls serious Amps....

yeah, it seemed pretty darn fast. i wasn't able to give full throtle either. i think in need to look at my toe and caster cause i would loose it at high speeds. i was most impressed with it shear over welming power at any speed. i love it. i'm stuck at using 6cell with my esc, but i think its already over the top unless i try to set land speed records with it. i do think i'll upgrade my wires on the batteries and also direct solder my motor and esc. i got a little bit of cutting out a time or to like i was loosing battery connection. i think i may have loosened a connection on my deans from current drawl.

i so much wanted to get a vid, but my dog ate my charger cable for the cam and i haven't replaced it yet. its been down for about 10 months. i guess im lazy.

I changed all the wiring to 10 Gauge on the ESC, My deans plugs seems to work just fine on it...

I keep up with Buggy's. Not that hard to do. Remember that it's only 132 feet long. The onroad, nicer stadium trucks and buggys make their top speed way after that and not within the 132 feet. I keep up with those brushed dragsters as well.

What is a KB45XL motor? I know it sounds like a stupid question... but I can't find anything other than hobby forums about it. Who makes it? where did you get it?

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...
