just another boring esc question... - 01.02.2008, 09:03 PM

heres my story....

last spring i went to go drive my emaxx with an hv-maxx and when i grabbed a bunch of throttle the truck stopped in its tracks but when i tried to go again i only gave it half throttle and it worked fine so i went WOT and it rolled to a stop. so i drove it back at half throttle and flored it and looked at the lights on the esc and they were blinking blue and green so i brought it inside and took out the manual but it didnt say anything about what it means if it blinks blue and green. so out of fustration the truck went up on my shelf and sat there untill about a month ago when i tried to figure out what happend, i took apart the motor and the bearings were trashed and it didnt feel like the rotor was magnitized compaired to my 6.5r novak bl motor so i figured the motor was done so last week i ordered the new trinity duo 550 motor hoping it would work and if it didnt at least i would be able to use just about any esc because it works with sensored and sensorless esc's. it came in the mail today and i soldered it all up and charged my batteries and when i got outside the esc did the same thing as with the old motor

so now im left with a brand new motor that im sure you guys wanna hear how it performs and no esc. I cant spend more than 150 right now so what do you guys reccomend? should i wait and save for the new MMM and new novak systems or should i just settle for the MM esc?

thanks for the help

i think that the mamba max would run this

to run 4s or anything over 12v you would need to disable the bec, by removing the red wire on the esc. plug, and run a ubec or a rx pack

You sure it is the ESC, My first thought was LVC and that when you hit full throttle the batteries sag so bad that the ESC shuts down and resets. What batteries are you using?

the novak doesnt have a built in lvc, although it now comes with the one you can add on

if you do have it on and are not running lipo, take it off

and not really faster, you can fine tune the mm esc. with your computer

it doesnt have one then

the novak has an external lvc that you can hook up in line and solder to the battery leads

just to be clear(mine did this as well) is it cogging?? like you give it throttle and its doesnt want to start, like its hic-uping , i could get mine to go on the bench but as soon as i put it down it would ack up, if so it is probably the esc.

gearing is not to bad, mine never thermaled at all, it was working fine , charged up some batterys and went back outside and it was done

you could send in the novak to get it fixed for about what your budget is

and you could still run the trinity on it

did you get the 4.5 ,5.5 or 6.5 motor from trinity??

good choice, i thought about that motor as well, but i just got rid of my revo so i dont need it now, and i was waiting to see how it ran on the mm, but no one had posted anything yet, afaik

yeah i had the 4.5 on lipo and was geared like 18/72 iirk and was doing well and then i ran it through some grass, and then went in, the esc. did get to like 175* , but i never sent it in, i plan on sending it in once the 5mm shafts come out, our some kind of update
