So, I've been looking for options to replace my broken upper chassis, upgrade the diffs, upgrade the driveshafts, etc. I'm also wondering what's going to break next.
I have had an Aftershock with full RPM upgrades sitting on a shelf since the last time the stupid motor wouldn't start.
I found out last night (by careful scientific study) that the Aftershock actually weighs quite a bit less than my aluminum Maxx. So, my outrunner direct drive transmission has a new home.
I'm hoping to use most of the e-maxx upper chassis and bolt it to the upper deck of the Aftershock. Not glamorous I know but it sure simplifies things.
I'm setting out to build a durable, long running, all-weather basher. I want to be able to drive over anything, anytime.
The build is just getting started. I'll get some pics up later on tonight.
Here's the first stage of the build. I'm working on some bracing to really lock the two chassis together at the trans mount. So far, its going together really well. I'm hoping to get it done tonight.
It never ceases to amaze me how tiny the Emaxx looks next to alot of other trucks- the Aftershock seems to have swolled the remains of the other chassis whole...

3905 made things a little closer. Still no comparison in most categories though....
Looks great! I did the same thing. Losi makes great stuff. Finding the sweet spot on the chassis was a pain. It pays off though I haven't broken a thing yet, I just had to reglue the tires yesterday.
Thanks BL_RVO, lol. I seem to have picked up a nasty browser hijacker somewhere which is playing havoc with IE7, and makes me look like a dyslexic who cant type. Anyway, loving the aftershock conversions.
My Quark 80b just dropped a steamer! It was weird, it was barely rolling, not hot, just a couple minutes of easy running. Just shut off. Now I get a tiny click when I turn it on, nothing else.
I called Quark this morning. The guy there said to send an e-mail. I'm still waiting for a reply.
I think I might buy another controller while I wait for the Quark. Then I'll put the quark in my 8ight on 5s whenever it comes back. What is a really durable controller for up to 6s? I'm willing to pay for reliability and quick service. What's the best way to go?
