Do Gorilla do the "upgrade program"? Say if I have the older version of the G1 I can swap it for the G2 or get it discounted?

The only thing you would need would be the new lower plate and motor mount(if applicable). The braces and top plates are compatible from V1 to V2(G1 to G2).

I've never seen the bottom plate for sale on its own? Is that all that differs from G1 to G2? Just the extra cell.

The new motor mount won't work directly with the old lower plate, either. It would need a spacer where the mount attaches to the x brace. The extra cell is the major change, but the new lower plate also doesn't use the additional aluminum side rails to help locate the batteries, but rather has a bend in th plate itself(lighter weight). Otherwise, they are both compatible with each other. If you don't use a motor mount, the new lower plate will bolt right up.

Yes. Each individual plate is available seperately.

yet another reason to love Gorilla products!

Availability of individual parts. And really fair prices, too.
