I searched but couldn't find what I wanted, I thought there was a thread asking everyone's jobs. I'm learning so much, and seeing lutach build his own esc has me inspired. I'm disabled so my schooling would be almost completely funded. I'm 28 I suppose it's time for me to grow up. So what jobs do people around here have, more importantly, what path do I take to learn more about r/c?

Try electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. I'm taking up Mech E now and I like it. I have to build a robot at the end of the semester and I'm using my rustler or stampede as a base. You just got to love r/c :D

If you want to design stuff, then yes, ME or EE (also MET and EEET - which are engineering technology degrees, just without as much Calculus).
If you want to actually build them, then I'd suggest more of a trade school (ie., DeVries or something along those lines).

JThiessen - what exactly does MET and EEET stand for? I am assuming the beginning part is "mechanical engineering...." and "electrical engineering....". What does the "T" stand for?

MET - Mechanical Engineering Technology, or in some places Manufacturing Engineering Technolgoy

EEET - Electrical Engineering Technology (not sure why three "E"'s - its what it was called 16 years ago when I was in college).

They (the schools that offer them) tout them as a more hands on degree. I dont believe companies actually look at them that way. Most companies look at it as a normal 4 year engineering degree.

Or make friends with the guys at the LHS and get their discounts and the benifits of the great retun policy!!!

My brother actually used to work at the LHS so I always got discounts. Unfortunately this is not the greatest hobby shop around since it doesn't even sell Losi, Ofna, Mugen, and a few other big name companies. However, on all Traxxas parts and everything they do sell, I get quite a big discount. Its great that the manager is also actually into electric rc's and brushless as well.

Yeah my good friend is the manager at the LHS. He hooks me up too. He loves to run the brushless stuff but I fear that I am losing him to the crawlers!!!
