sorry to create a other tread (if one existing)i want to know if it is good for a esc like the mmm to add a power capacitor!!!!and what is the benefit for the esc,,i just want the best for my mmm
There is no benefit in adding any capacitors...we put enough on the controller to handle ANYTHING you can throw at it. Do NOT use cheap batteries though. You need high quality cells to run this system...email or call tech support if you are unsure of your batteries' ability to deliver the current. support@castlecreations.com or 913-390-6939 and hit 1 for tech support.
Many manufacturers do recommend additional caps for long battery leads. Do we still not add caps if we have to lengthen the leads? I have one rig that the MMM wires are just barely long enough. If I had a longer motor or longer battery, I would need to lengthen wires.
When extending leads past recommended length (12" from where the Batt wires solder to t he ESC and where the wires solder to the pads on the lipo cells) you must add an extra cap of equal uF rating and voltage. Every 4" of added length, add a cap.I use a pin soldering ti to poke holes in the wires right off the PCB, insert the solder "legs", and fill with solder.

Would 7s1p A123 be considered high enough quality? Or would I have to go 2p?
is there any benefits of making our battery and motor leads as short as possible say motor leads 3inchs total and battery leads 5 inches total??? id like the wires as short as possible to make it look nice and neat.

as far as wiring goes it is best to make the wires as short as you can get away with

Great tip Joe. Thanks.
Is there any detrimental effect to adding extra caps even if you dont add wire length?
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

How you define that?
Why not using cheap batteries? What happen to battery when it is half dead?
What about NiMH?
I thought that bad LiPo are still better then NiCd/NiMh...
Sound like your caps are not up for the task or you just do not want people to add components to your ESC which makes it better.
