Gold Connectors Tekno motor mount

Just building my RC Tekno Losi 8B Conversion with Enerland 5s 6000mah and mega 1770kv motor. Probably a but tame I know but thought it best to start with this and go from there!
Quick question regarding connectors. I am using the MMM which comes with 6.5mm connectors on all the wires for esc input. The largest connectors I have (and was going to use) for battery end are 4mm. Will these cope with amp draw or should I use 6.5mm??
I have used 4mm in all my electric helis but am aware of cars having much higher ampage.
Advice greatly appreciated.
Also realised that the mega motor has 36.2mm can but motor case from Tekno is 36mm hence too small! Anyone solved this by heating mount/case or have I simply made a boo boo buying this motor!!!

You should use the bigger connectors...The wire for the mmm esc will not fit in 4mm I don't think. You are not going to use deans on your batts?

I am not sure if you can do anything w/the case except order another.

Not sure what you can do with the Mega motor. Where did you buy it from and have you used it yet? Might have luck selling it and picking up a Medusa motor to fit in the 36mm can.

For the battery wires I use Deans as they are common. But Losi or Traxxas are popular too now.

For the motor wire you actually can fit the 4mm females onto the 10 gauge MMM wire. The MMM wires are braided so well that you can fold down each braid (kinda like peeling a banana) and you will have one braid left in the center. Cut that braid and twist the remaining braids together fairly tight and the wire will be able to fit nice and snug into the 4mm connector.

In the pics below you can see I use Novak 12 Gauge wires and changed made the motor wires enter at 90 degrees by enlarging the solder hole on the 6.5mm male connection. I got this idea from other smarter members on this forum.

Sadly I have already put 4mm connectors on motor wires so can't return it which is a real pain. WIll keep it as standby I guess.
ALready ordered Medusa motor so that will solve problem.

With regards to connectors, I thought about using deans but never really liked them after a couple of bad experiences when using them on helis. Didn't realise they were rated as high as 4mm connectors.

Nice idea doing you plugs at a right angle to reduce height, might try that. Did you cut open a little slot on the male plugs so the wire could slide in?

With the 6.5mm male, find a drill bit that is just about the same diameter as the wire your going to use. 12 gauge is easy and if your using the tekno kit, you will probably need longer wires than what the MMM comes with. if you use 10 gauge, peel the strands like I stated above to make the portion your going to solder fit into a smaller hole. You just want to enlarge the hole of the male connector not put a slot. With a slot, the solder will spill out and wont look as clean.

I run 6S with long 12 gauge wires with 4mm connectors at the motor and I have no problems whatsoever. Hope that helps.

To get larger gauge wires into smaller connectors, I usually just tin the end of the wire like normal, and then use a dremel tool to "file" away the outside until it fits.

One other method for getting 10ga into the 4mm plugs is to cut the connector into an open half moon (or 'C') shape where it mates to the wire. This opens up the connector to fit the wire. A little extra solder and you're done.
