7xl/ mamba max!! - 11.24.2006, 05:25 PM

ok went ahead and took the esc out of my rusty to use in the E for a few runs on the 7XL.. ran ok,not alot of speed though.. (this is 12 cells gp3300 )the motor stayed cool 130deg. about 75 outside now. the esc got hot.. 170 deg, but running the bec circuit on MM. ( I figure that was cause of heat.) batts stayed cool 100-110)what does everyone think? I was more speed though.I figure 4s li-po will help, maybe 5s? opinions please.. also gonna get a ubec.. gearing is 18/66 now.. ok to gear up with a ubec?
phil

You might want to put a fan on the MM if its getting 170 with 3300 nihm. The added amps and longer run times of lipos will get it alot hotter.

Actually the boys at CC say that the more powerful the batteries, the better for the Mamba....

I was thinking that running it with 12cells and no ubec was contributing to the heat also.. what about gearing?

get a ubec man..

using 12 cells with a high torque servo is killing for the internal one. it sure will take away some heat. the bec isn't meant for this.

It seems to be fine right now.. in the post above temps dropped alot and all acts fine..I ran it on 1 2s lipo the other day waiting on my 2nd lipo to get here..lol but it still had alot of torque flipped the truck backwards easily with 2s.. not alot of top speed though..

Turn down the braking power to 25% on the mamba programing. This should help.

Glad to hear its working well for you. I had the same problem w/ mine on the brakes. You can just turn down brake power (as mentioned) or go into castle link and redraw the brake curve to make it more progressive, as well as a bunch of other tweaks. Same for the throttle as well, help tame the beast a bit and make it more drivable. Before I was flipping either forwards or backwords w/ too much finger action.

The usb setup is really slick. Post a top speed if you can, I'd like to compare it to the 8xl.

I turned my braking down to 1% and it still flips the truck over forward on the Maxx with the Mamaba ESC. On the opposite side, the 9920 on the LST2 won't seem to add enough braking power. Go figure.

Thats weird!?!?! Are you adjusting the braking force or the drag brake? Brake force only goes in 10% incremants... 10%, 20% 30%...ETC...

How did you get 1%

Do you have EPA on your radio?
