Pro-car or universal? - 11.29.2006, 05:52 AM

I am going to be getting the Dynamite C4 motor for my 18T and am going to use the quark 33a. I notice they make one that says "universal" and the other is the "pro-car". Can I use either? The universal is on average $10 cheaper.
What's the main difference? Setup will be on 3s.
Thanks.

Probably if you can give us a link to the website where you've seen the systems, then we might help you.
However, a better substitute would either be a Castle Creations Mamba( not Mmaba Max) system or the Tekin mini systems( on 4s, the Tekin and Mamba made some 70+mph speed runs in the mini rigs).
I've never heard about the C4( Is it a hacker?), but I know how good the Quark is. Usually a pro system means more powerful, more cell count capacities, more amp support and more $$.
Still, I would go with the Tekin Mini Rage High Performance system which includes the controller and a 6800kv motor. On 3s you'll be firing up the asphalt for sure. It costs something over $150.

The universal has modes for Cars, heli and Places Ect, The Pro-Car is a car only controller, but offers more programabilty within the car mode.

If you are getting the pro-car version it is cheaper here http://www.b-p-p.com/products.php?cat=36
He also has a lot of combos for good prices. I am running a Mamba 6800 motor and Mamba 25 esc on 2s in my 18T and it is plenty fast for me. You might want to think about the Wraith 7K it has a 25mm dia. can where as the Mamba and C4 are 20mm dia cans and I think the Wraith is a little longer also.

Hey Tazz, I think I may have asked before from Serum, but can't find it back. Would you have a link for the wraith?

Thanks.

Click on my link above (4th post down). Quark has two versions, one labeled Pro-car and the other labeled universal.

I bought the universal 33 before the pro-car version came out. I really didn't like it. It works OK, but the braking modes are really very limited. I can't remember exactly what the problem was all I remember was I didn't like it enough that I spent the $ to replace it with a Mamba25.

It had something to do with the drag brake settings. If you ran it with reverse enabled you couldn't turn off the drag brakes and they were always at a relativly high setting or something like that. And the only way to turn off the drag brake was to turn off reverse as well.

I would strongly recomend going with the pro-car version for the extra $10.

The universal works for a car, but its not up to the standard that we have all come to expect from a controller. This is why quark came out with the pro-car version. I hear it a verk nice controler, but havent tryed it.

I know this. The Quark 33 can take more punishment than the mamba25. I would thermal the mamba 25 using the same setup that the quark33 had no problem with. I think the heatsink makes a big diference.

my $.02

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

It is the third one down on the right in the link I gave. Just click on the picture of the motor for more info.
