Exploding Cells - 03.23.2007, 07:01 PM

A buddy of mine was running his converted savage x today and all of the sudden 1 cell in the middle of a 6 cell pack exploded. What would cause this?

What cell was it? IB or GP? I had the same thing happen, it was a bad cell.

The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

I've personally seen a set of IB4200's blow before. The second cell to the end blew. Shot the 1 cell at a wall and the impact caused the cell to have a huge dent, the other 4 cells were shot clean across the pit space (about 50 feet). IT was a hell of an explosion. It was loud enough to silence the entire building and all the truck's paused for a minute on the track.

Whats up Serum? Not a fan of the Elite cells?

That is all I run and I have no problems with them. They usually take about 4000mah of charge and that puts 16 cells at about 22-23V.

Overcharging "non-high quality" cells isnt reccomended. ;) Id reccomend either GP 3300's or GP 3700's or if you want IB cells than 3800's will suffice.

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Where can I get some of these GP cells? Maybe I'll give them a try. I would go LiPo but they're a little out of my price range right now.
