MM stopped beeping. - 06.06.2007, 08:19 AM

I just got my MM yesterday. I programmed itasthe manula said and it runs GREAT! After my 6th bash session last night it stopped beeping when you turn it on. The amber light goes on and off with the switch, but no sounds. It drives fine!

Is this a huge concern? Or can I just keep driving it. I'd hate to have to call Castle and sendit back a day after recieving it.

you probably know it but it beeps through motor. so if the motor is disconnected -> no beeps (was troubleshooting my Quark :) at least manual said it)

I don't know. You might want to call Castle and see what they say. Since it is the motor that does the actual beeping and it's running fine, it's the controller that isn't doing something that it should be doing.

When you turn on the esc, it goes through an arming process, which includes a couple of safety features that may not be working.

I think that arming process is missing. It did it the forst 6 times I ran it. put on my 7th pack it just turned on with an amber light.... I guess I'll have to call castle... very discouraging to have this on my first day with my first BL....

But the torque, speed and ability to break the tire glue beads by just pegging the throttle makes it worth it :D

Yep, I know it beeps throgh the motor, it is connected and everything runs great, just no arming/beeping. I just e-mailed castle i'll wait and see what they say.

I just got off the phone with Joe from Castle, he gave me a few things to try this evening when I get home. He wants to melink it and reflash it then recalibrate, if no change call him back.

It does sound like a software problem, since the hardware sounds like it's doing its job.

Dicky; i had the same issues with a mamba25; the problem was their stays some voltage in the caps; when i disconnected the batteries for about 10 minutes, it beeped again.

Perhaps your mm has the same issues. Otherwise i would suspect the software like Aangel suggested.

That could be. I was using my packs back to back to back as it was all runing nice and cool. I'm hoping it's software or the cap issue. It would be a shame to have to send it back in a day after recieving it.

Thanks guys!

It was the cap issue. I just got home, plugged it in and it went through proper arming sequence!

It's been great. I have over25 runs on it now, temps never gettig above 132 on the motor and the mid 120's on the esc. That's with 7 cell ib4200's

The motor temp hovers around the mid 120's on lipo...

Is that normal? I figured that the more amperage and voltage from a 3s lpio would generate more heat, but I got the reverse of that. Is this do to efficiency?

either way all numbers are well within spec. i can gear up abit for more speed, but it's plenty fast for me right now, I need to work on driving skills before I make it go faster.

You don't run it at full throttle all the time; i noticed the same with my mamba 8000; it got hotter on 2S than on 3S.
