How much weight G3?

Hi everyone, I recently join.. I am curious how much weight for G3. Is it heavey? about 12 pounds?? I guess so. I seen it look fancy silver e-maxx, cool!!!!!:) :cool:

My full aluminum race g-maxx weighs just about 8 pounds with batteries. If you select the right parts and shed the extra weight (bumpers, shift servo two motors vs. one brushless etc.) this isn't too hard to achieve. Light weight with the "bling factor" of aluminum and nitro beating speed is only $$$ away!!. Welcome to the forums!

Mike is right about the weight. I'm not sure if you saw the other thread on this forum but I plan on adding weight data on the Gorilla Maxx site.

Power to weight ratio is key especially for E's - speed and run times are directly impacted by weight.

The first truck I built was all aftermarket, super expensive and super heavy. It looked great but was a slug - I wont make that mistake again.

I'll give you the exact weight soon but its just a few grams more than the stock parts (yes grams!)... and if you plan to run with 4 shocks you can eliminated 4 levers and 4 spacers which makes the aluminum G3 lighter than the stock plastic parts.

I think I like g-maxx light weight is better but $$$$$ more... huh maybe in future.

Quality isn't cheap, that's for sure. But...... you get what you pay for as they say!

Bling cost alot of money, trust me. I got the full gmaxx setup and am using GA 7075 bulks and diffs with maximizer cups (heavy). To me they are worth it. I am also running 8 oversized shocks (proline powerstrokes). My truck could use a diet so I will have to figure out where.

If I win lottery, I would buy g-maxx!!!

You're getting cnc machined parts made in the US from top notch material (no sweat shops here) They're also not mass produced or stamped.

Don't forget about the design value - every one of our parts is a redesign not a copy of stock parts - Thats got to be worth something :rolleyes:

It is tough to argue with the value of the parts. They are all custom designed and tested before being cnc machined into the top quality parts posted all over this website. There is a lot to be said about thinking outside the box! Anyone can copy!

I think there are two different things being discussed here. The first is expense, the second is value.

At the risk of putting words in Cajun's mouth, I don't think he meant to imply that the GorillaMaxx products are overpriced (value), although I can see where you might get that from his lottery comment. I think that he meant that it costs more than he or is wallet can comfortably absorb (expense). Unfortunately, I probably fall into this same category of buyer, too.

The way I see it, the GorillaMaxx products are top-of-the-line and first rate quality products at a VERY reasonable price, especially when you consider the design effort that went into it as well as the cost of owning and operating CNC equipment.

However as reasonable a price as it is, my level of income probably cannot comfortably support the purchase of one of these bad boys. Well, in truth it probably can with enough discipline, but my stint in the unemployment line for 11 months back in 2002 has done irreparable damage to my discretionary spending habits. :(

Because I don't race, I don't suppose that I would benefit greatly from a G-Maxx Extreme Makeover, so for me the economics of doing so doesn't make a lot of sense. Even going brushless would be more out of curiosity than any tangible justification by purpose.

At any rate, don't be put off because someone thinks your products are too expensive for their wallets -- you can't control what people can and cannot afford. However you should be proud of the products you produce, because they do seem to be a great value from all of the things I've read about them not only here, but on other message boards as well.

Megazone, I agree with you on what your wallet can obsorb. This hobby is not cheap by any means. But I dont think that they were put off because someone thought that the prices were high. The way I understood Gmaxx and Mike is that if you want great quality aluminum parts in general and not just GMaxx you have to pay. All the time spent designing and testing these parts cost alot of money especially in the initial investment when starting a company or product line. There are other cheaper options. For example, xtremercracing (not a big fan of) that I hardly ever see anyone running these anymore, proline suspension, and RPM products. I think that there is alot of misconception on this thread.

Regarding the way the lottery post was percieved on this thread.

I received a message from CajunE-Maxxman a little while ago - he was not in any way saying that the the Gmaxx prods ( or any other alum products ) were overpriced or not worth the money - He was indeed being truthful in his comment - He is a little short of money at this time and if he did have some extra money to spend on upgrades ( hence the lottery comment ) he would do so and he too would have a Gmaxx. :)

I hope this clears this up - This site is not in any way shape or form in the habbit of negative feedback.

Thanks, HotnCold. Everybody has there own level of discretionery income (myself included). Megazone is correct: price and value are two different topics. I don't think anyone was trying to imply anything other than that. The parts are "expensive" to some people, regardles of their "value". Some have the money to play with, others don't. I believe that is what was meant by these comments and I hope no one feels offended, as I am sure this was not the intention.
