Hello - 10.27.2007, 07:42 PM

Hi I am Jeremy. I am brand spanking new to electric/brushless but not to RC. I had a Revo 2.5 nitro that I parted out a couple months ago. I currently have a HPI RS4 nitro and a 1/5th scale HPI Baja with a 27.2 ESP motor. I love and have a passion for R/C.

I got the bug to build a E Revo after seeing some crazy videos of them on youtube. So now that is my new winter project. I already have the conversion kit purchased and a new 3.3 chassis amongst other misc. parts.

I plan on being a sponge on here for the next couple of months during this build and will be looking to you all for some good information and knowledge. Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. Talk to you all real soon.

Jeremy

I am going with this conversion: http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=1972

And possible this bundle for motor/ESC/Battery. http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=1973 Still unsure though until I get a little more knowledgeable.

All I know is my nitro Revo had a Picco .26 Max in it and it was crazy for performance. I want at least the same or more with the BL.

I'd do a little research on here before going for that combo... I'd either do a mamba max with a feigao or look at the mgm 160 with the nue...

The MM does not like the 4 pole motor design of the Nue - Lots of cogging I believe... It also is quite high KV - Most would run something a little slower with 4s which is fine on a MM with a UBEC.

Just my 2c but read on there is a lot of info here!

Not a good combo. You want to run at least 4s to keep the mm cool, and will want to run a receiver pack or a ubec and disable the onbord bec to help with esc temps. 3s on a 1515 is a BIG current draw, no wonder they are only getting a 15min run out of an 8000 lipo. I would go to a 4s 8000 lipo and a 2200 kv neu motor, or comparable.

Your gonna like it here Jeremy. Welcome and if I'de have found this site befor getting into nitro I wouldn't own one now unless I was making it brushless, but it's expensive so I'm putting togeather my first brushless now and running the nitro's to keep the need happy in the mean time....

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

So from what you guys know of me now and what I expect out of a E Revo what would you recommend for Motor/ESC/battery? Either way I think I am going to pick up two good stick packs to run when the Lipo is charging. Open to all comments... I just want good top speed and wheelie ability!!!!!

Welcome to possibly the #1 place for your brushless fix, Hope you like it here.

I love that 5b, if not for the sound I'd have believed it was brushless.

There have been issues with the MM/neu setups, some have sucess and some do not. I think a 1512 or 1515 Neu of around 2200kv and 4s would be better than any 3s combo and a Quark 125 or MGM 16016 would be the best combo. Watch the drivetrain, they will be catching all kinds of you know what from that combo. I know, i crushed a pair of revo diffs with a similar combo

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

with the conversion kit he is planning on buying a clutch is used. this hides the problem with the cogging on the mm/neu combo. A 1515 with a 2700kv and running it on 3S in a monstertruck is not done in my opinion. my guess is that they do this to hide the 'shortcommings' of the mm controller that nowadays seem to have problems with running on 4S.

500-600 dollars. Also would like to know what battery to run too. I was planning on getting two stick packs but unsure of what I need for that. Then a good Lipo. That way I will always have a charged battery to run when the other is charging up. I want lots of power and speed. The Neu motors have me intrigued just not sure on which one. Also no idea on what ESC to run. I will be running this all on the new Tekno Revo conversion kit and the 2 speed Revo tranny.
