Well it was a fun day of racing :)

Mr Mafucci showed up w/ his BL CRT, and his friend brought a Novak powered Gmaxx and a nitro Revo. Mike showed up as well, but did not have time to race.

We all ran together in the BL class. MacII was whooping us w/ his truggy and his buddy and I had a good battle going until he thermalled his Novak 6.5 and I drove away w/ 2nd place.

In the MT class I raced the Revo vs a field of 7 or 8 other nitro versions. I managed to Qual 2nd, I was very happy with that. In the main I even managed to lead a few laps, but started getting all excited, started driving tight & too aggressive and made mistakes and fell back to 4th.

Oh well, it was my 2nd race ever, and the first where I drove against more than a couple other cars on the track. I'm too green to drive consistantly, and the competition rattled my nerves a bit, but it was a blast seeing it pull in front of the nitros. Haha, on the start my truck just flew ahead w/ BL power. I felt kinda like I was cheating for a bit, but that feeling quickly ended w/ the 1st turn then driving ability took over.

My HV mgm/neu setup ROCKED. So much power, so smooth and sooooo cool. The difference over the MM/XL really showed. I also had the truck setup pretty well so it drove nicely, not like at the bash where I was running up on the boards every turn, and bouncing onto my lid nearly every jump. I'll def be going again.

MacII ran his CRT in the truggy class as well. He was running a very good race. He qual'd 2nd or 3rd, and was running a very clean 3rd spot for the first 12 min of the race or so. I was marshalling, and his and the track owner's were the only trucks I didn't have to flip over. Unfort it was a 15 min main, and his 4S 4900 TrkPwrs dumped @ 12min mark. Damn, he was only behind the track owner's truck and some wizkid who also won the buggy class. Very nice race Dave!

At the very end there was a side by side race-off of all the main winners to see who was the grand champion. Dave won the showdown and walked away as the Grand Racing Champion, and a trophy at least 3ft tall

BL represented well. Hope to see even more out there in the future :)

Mr. Maffucci? What did my dad show up? Come on Ryan...I already feel weird enough when I try to explain to friends not into the hobby, just what it's all about :)

It was a good day...low pressure and everyone's truck running at the end. I had never been to an RCMTRA event, watching the solid axel trucks was quite cool. At the very end, Alex, Brad and I were watching as they were about to start the "freestyle" and they asked us to be the judges...it was cool.

I wish we had more BL guys! And Ryan, I had no idea that was only your 2nd race! Man, I wish I was that good my second time out. Your E-Revo got quite a few comments from the guys I was pitting with...I saw you grab that lead in the PMT class...You were definitely a courteous racer, my best advice to you is to make people EARN those position changes. I'm not suggesting blocking or worse, cause a wreck by accident, but I know some of the people you let by were on the same lap you were.

Great event, great people...I'll be there next year for the RCMTRA event!

DM

PS - When I got home and showed my wife the trophy, she asked me what exactly I was overcompensating for...I told her it was definitely NOT Nitro Envy...

"Mr" is the title awarded to all Grand Racing Champions. Do it three years in a row and you will earn the title "Sir". ;)

Yeah, everytime I've gone I've learned alot. I felt kinda bad about one accident at the beginning, and I'm not sure of all the "rules" of the track. I got a good start and in the 3rd turn some dude tried to cut under me in the turn. We got a bit tangled, I powered out of it and he spun around and started cursing. I wasn't sure if I did some Dbag maneuver. He seemed to think so, OTOH he cut under me into my line and got screwed on it so.... too bad I think. There seems to be alot of B&M'ing over everything for some people, so its hard to tell what's legit sometimes.

Also, after I fell back, there was one guy who came up on me and I was trying to guard my position, he shouted "go easy, leader" so I let off, but I was so focused on my truck and not wrecking I wasn't sure who was who sometimes. Plus I felt bad for their whimpy nitro engines, and I didn't want to burn my bridges into the nitro class by drving like a cannonball and/or kicking everyone's @$$es first time out.

Def good advice and I appreciate it. i left them off easy this time, but I'll be back next year....

LOL...The guy who won, Vinny, is a good friend of mine, I as SO hoping you would win b/c I'd never have let him live that down (that an Electric Revo is better than his precious Nitro version.) When we race at our "local" track (GMX in New Milford) he dismisses it anytime I win as being unfair b/c my truck is based on a truggy. Oh well, if that was race 2 for you, I'd say by race 6 the Nitro guys will have no chance. If you are ever seeing your relatives over there, let me know, I think you would really like GMX, great layouts, much easier on the trucks and nice people.

Hope to see you soon,

Yeah, it brought back memories from the Bash and Battery Blast. So Daf, have you been racing? How do you like the XT8? My E-CRT has two full seasons plus on it and I'm thinking "winter project"...should I switch?

Not much racing here anymore. First of all the season's over here, first flakes of snow were already falling, and second, the nitro knuckleheads here won't even let me practice together with them. That's why I had to come up with my own thing... I hope next summer will bring some exciting news!

But so far the XT8 proved very good. Aside from that stupid failure at the bash I had nothing break on me. Tuning options are more than I can handle, but I am getting the hang of it. It's definitely nice to work on that truck, and it drives well.

Short video of the race:

My father in law filmed it.. its 3min long, but the race was 7min+.. that's how much I had to cut out as it got a bit crappy at points. He kept wanting to zoom close in, but the trucks move so fast it was hard to keep up like that. Lots of thanks to him tho, so be nice

I'll link Alex to your video, he will get a kick out of it...
