Drive shaft too short! - 12.29.2007, 10:44 PM

If I put Traxxas #5451R drive shafts on RPM arms and axle carriers they are too short and at the end of downward travel the dogbone end comes out of the cup. I am using HB Lightening diffs. So that I don't have to take the diff apart and install extended cups is there a longer shaft I can use?

Not that I'm aware of. Seems like longer cups, or using the shafts Mike has that allows you to use the sliders, or in your case cups that came with the CVD's, are your only options. Either way, your gonna have to rebuild the diffs.

Thanks squee. @#$% I hate rebuilding diffs.

In the directions it sound like a REVO issue.
"To prevent this you will need to either replace the metal drive cups or reduce the down travel by installing the pushrod on the outer locations on the suspension arm."

Personally, I think sliders are the best way to go. Some kind of give in the drivetrain usually a good thing.

I got the pins that Mike has. My PowerStroke shocks used to rub against the 3.3 shaft so I was going to swithch to the CVDs for a little more clearence, but I also picked up a set of SuperShocks which are thinner.

I think I'll take your advice and put the 3.3s back on with the SuperShocks. Should be great. Thanks again Squee.

try tightening the pivot balls all the way it might give you a few extra millimeters of cvd back at the cup end.
