What kind of gearing and packs/voltage are you going to run?
Yes, it is!!!

I raced the buggy Sat. night. TQ'd and won the main. It is geared 13/48 and I am running 4s lipo. First qualifier I ran a Poly RC 3700 for 2 hot practice laps and 5 min.s; finished 2nd and used 1569mah. Second qualifier I ran a firefox 3700 for 1 lazy practice lap and 5 min.: TQ'd and used over 1900mah of battery. Main I ran a Enermax 5000, 1 hot lap, 5 min. main, Won and used about 1650mah of juice. Temps were consistently 110-motor, 105-Quark(without Hautz's heatsink), and 90-battery except for the crappy firefox which was down to 115 from it's normal 135 range. It wieghs in somewhere between 8.5 and 9 lbs depending on which battery I have in it but was generaly well behaved and probably had 3-5 m.p.h. more than the fastest nitro @ the track. Also, it is super smoooooth compared to the Truggy.
I am very pleased with it......

Antonio... I want your buggy. Wanna trade 8ights?

But no, seriously. I'm considering swapping my electric gear to the 8ight. I'll have to see what the cheapest LiPo I can get is. Got any suggestions?

I honestly think that unless you plan to run RC Pro, Texas or that other nitro series that was soooo well organized that converting your 8ight is the best way to maximize your fun time. Of coarse, I'm biased because I want another electric to run with when we can't race with the nitro's at organized events occurring at our local tracks. If you parted with the OFNA and your nitro engine you could partially bankroll a battery tray and MMM or RX8 when they become available. The RC Product Designs top plate is perfect for mounting your current MM in the 8ight. I responded on your other post about batteries. See ya next race day.

I got something for your hot fire right here bud.

I picked it from Elliot yesterday. Going to be 4S with MM and Pletty or 10xl. Ordered the mount from Mike yesterday as well as a tray.

Sorry I missed you last Saturday at Toys but i blew my Monster 125 during practice in the 8T and was so mad I packed up and left. This Saturday is Monster Jam so no racing but were picking back up the following Saturday. I plan on bringing the truggy and my new buggy so show up if you can. BTW the 8uggy LOOKS GREAT!

I was wondering what happened to you. I took a schoolin' in the qualies that day and ended up blowing off the main and driving back to race here at home. Sadly, the 8T went away to pay for the 8. I did race the buggy at Toys last week, qualified just below mid-pack, and attempted to run the 15 min. main. At about 12 minutes I thermal glitched just after the Triple and decided I better shut it down; 80degree temps and no heatsink on the Quark. I never did run pace with the leaders but I set my personal best lap times for any RC vehicle on that track so it was somewhat of a success. If I make it up, I'll bring you a couple of goodies, I have no future use for my original battery/esc mount for the 8T and I've got an almost new Proline wing I inherited that is drilled for a 777. Nice score on El's buggy; I know that thing is capable of podium finishes. Still can't believe he bailed on Kyosho though. That was a looooong relationship.

Hope you make it up. Yeah, I can't believe that either about E. Just too funny seeing the "CASTER" buggy going around the track. As far as that Quark goes I may have a goodie for you. I do have Mike's heatsink for it if you want it. I am going away from Quark completly. Your welcome to it if you need/want it.

I've been in the process of gettin' away from the Quark for a while now.........

Unfortunately, MGM is not where I'm going and Castle and/or Tekin have not aided me in my travels yet.

I use the same motor / battery voltage setup in the car i ran at the Kyosho Challenenge... very good setup for a buggy in my opinion.

Where do you TX guys race your electric 1/8 scales? My home track is JCG in Euless, TX, but I haven't run my E-8ight on the track yet.

I live in Corpus Christi and my hometrack is Starcar. I also race @ RC Headquarters(formerly Toys 4 Big Boys) in San Antonio and Gears in Harlingen. All three of those tracks are electric friendly and run 15 min.s or less for A-mains. I also know that a couple of guys have begun to run 1/8th scale electrics at Ncontrol in Austin; Check their RCfiles forum for a thread on 1/8th scale electrics. Of coarse, electric 1/8 scales are not allowed to compete in Roar or RC Pro nitro events(with the exception of Standard Monster in RC Pro). As far as the DFW area, I have no idea about JCG's or Indy but I think most tracks are more than happy to take your money at local events if you think you can make run time for the mains and keep up with the fast nitro guys. There may be electric 1/8th scale offered as an "exhibition" class at upcoming RC Pro events. Keep an eye on the forums for future updates.
