Cheap "high voltage" esc Quest - 01.18.2008, 01:00 AM

I think I found for an affordable "high voltage" programmable ESC. I got it yesterday and it worked great with 3s1p A123. When I doubled the voltage it blew the stock tiny caps. Brought it to work today and added some better caps. I benchtested it with 6s1p A123 and it worked great. I'll use it on Sunday and see what kind of abuse it can take during dragracing.

Is it this ESC?
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-10-Brushless-C...QQcmdZViewItem
I allmost bought this but no information abot this ESC hold me back, i think that its overrated and not so good quality. Blown Caps shows that. Can you tell something about fets?
But tell us how its perform? Trigger reaction? Lets say is it possible to correct car fly trajectory from jump with throttle without delays? Its realy imprtant becouse i race only dont do speedruns. And also tell about BRAKS are they good? strong and smooth?

I think I already have that same combo coming to me as well. I know the ESC is on the way, I don't remember if I got the motor too.

..... I actually bought this last week for one of my boats. I'm going to run 2s and 3s on a 24" cat that I have, but now I may have to drop it in a truck first.

snellemin,
I'm not too surprised you blew the stock caps on 6s a123's. I read your write up on rcu, and know your were pushing the limits. Hey, would you be willing to set up my esc with some 35a caps like yours? If so, send me a pm.

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

That is the ESC man, which got more expensive. I used 4.5" wide thick heatshrink and soldered on 3x 330uF 35Volt caps.

To enable the ESC, you have to put in it reverse after the first beep. You'll hear another beep, which tell you that the ESC is enabled.

The stock ones were two tiny 220uF 35V caps.

I've had really good success using the Novak HV capacitor. I've ran it on 6S without any issues and it doesn't get warm or anything.

It produces ALOT of zap.

This ESC looks like a good candidate for a project I'm planning.

I want an ESC setup that will run dual brushless motors in a boat.

It looks like all of the FET's are on the same side of this power board.

I need to find some sort of cooling plate made of either aluminum or copper that allows me to circulate water through it. It needs to be approximately the same size as the fet area on this board.

Then secure one ESC to each side of the cooling plate with thermal heat sink compound. Jumper the power wires, jumper the receiver harness (opto-mod) of course. Then heat shrink the entire thing together.

The end result would be a compact ESC unit that would run cool. It would have two sets of motor leads coming out. One set of battery power leads, and one receiver hook up.

Oooooo. Looks like that may be just what the doctor ordered!

It's actually made for cars! *faints*

Snelle, hopefully it survives the weekend. If so, I'm putting one on order to run my emaxx. However, that seller doesn't have any for sale now...
