Final decision

I am quite happy, and surprised actually that I have two completed and working rc cars (in my sig). Usually, they would both be half done and not even working. But anyways, its time for a new project. I know they are my choices, but I would like to see what all your opinions are for me to do next. So here are my options:

1) 8ight-T (wait for MMM, RCM mount)

2) 8ight (transfer electronics from Revo to buggy and wait for MMM to put in the Revo, RCM mount)

3) Savage (FLM EXT chassis kit, wait for MMM)

I almost always bash, and are rarely at the track, but the great handling and durability of the buggy and truggy are a big plus for me... but then again, the Savage is just indestructible...

I am happy to hear your thoughts.

I'd personally say 8ight. Its the furthest from your current vehicle types.

The Revo can do all the Savage can, and then some. The Savage is just too heavy in my opinion.

The 8ight-T, while a great vehicle, is going to be a lot like the Revo.

I'd say the 8ight as well, I've got a insane mini-t and mini-lst, rustler a soon to be e-revo (haha thats a mini ST and MT, and 1/10 ST and MT :P) so my next step I think will be a buggy too, maybe something cheaper like a hyper though...

Insane Mini-t is right. They are so much fun. Wheely popping and crazy handling.

As far as the original question I'm going to say buggy too. You already have the revo for a MT even though a savage would be better . Plus I want a buggy too.

My mother went mad at me for spending so much money on my RC stuff, so I think I might leave RC soon, but not the forum, though.

Over the years my spendings are aproximately above 15-20 grands( gulp!!!).

What about you guys? how much did you spend?

BTW, I still need to get my MRX-4X( Serum is working on it, haha...) as well as the MBX-5R( Mike is working on it, haha...).

I guess after that, I'm only going to concentrate on running and fixing my cars, buggies and trucks.

I pray to Allah that I will not spend lots of money on my RC stuff like I did in the past. Man!!! I think I should find another substitution/hobby....:(

I was leaning towards the 8ight a little from the beginning, but wanted to hear all your opinions first. I'll also probably run metal on metal gears, so I didn't have such a great experience with plastic and metal on my old 1/8 buggy.

So a list of what I need to buy (let me know if I miss anything):
- Losi 8ight Race Roller = $420 (please tell me if you know a place where I can get a new one cheaper, preferably the one that you build from scratch)
- RCM motor mount = $60
- MMM = ~~$300~~
- TrueRC 5s2p 8000mAH lipo pack = $185
- Servo... ???

The last two items are for the Revo and then everythign on the revo currently will be switched over to the buggy. Does anyone see anythign wrong with doing this? Do you have any tips about the 8ight to make it mroe durable, handle batter, etc?

Lets hope for the best..... now to save up the pennies for the 8ight....

But why not a RC8? And second, why are you going to bash a expensive race buggy? That hurts to think about lol

If I dont like my R1 PRO in my TC, I am going to start a RC8, or the RC8 truggy (which is rumored to be at the next big race in a few days) =)

Heres an email Mike sent me a little while ago that you may find interesting. I asked about the CRT.5 in the email as well btw.

Losi 8 vs. RC8 vs. CRT.5



The initial batch of RC8s had a weak arm mold – faulty for some reason, so it was pretty fragile. AE has since updated the kits and will even send the newer arms to folks with the initial kits. This was the weak link on the AE buggy. The RC8 has more steering than anything else on the track, which is a nice feature IMO. One little quirk with the RC8 is the center diff location – it isn’t as far off center as some others, to the motor can’t be located far enough to the right, and the battery is located a little too far left in the standard setup – slightly off balance, depending on the battery pack. Installing a 46t spur and using s slower motor with a larger pinion will bring this back into balance. For racing, the RC8 is a little more work to bring to balance, but I would prefer it for track duty – you can never have too much steering.



The Losi is ready to go in stock form. The center diff is actually almost too far right, but it is pretty easy to set the Losi up in electric form. The Losi doesn’t steer as well as the RC8, but in electric form, it is much more stable than it is in nitro form(though not as stable as the RC8). This would be my first choice for bashing and my second choice for racing duty – This and the RC8 are both so close, that either is an excellent choice in the end.



The CRT.5 is a different animal altogether. It can’t be compared to the 1/8 buggies, really. I am about 1-2 weeks away from offering a extended arm and cvd kit for this truck as well, so my chassis kit will be upgraded and sold as a 1/10 conversion kit (I will likely put together a “stock chassis conversion kit” as well, for those working on a budget or looking to keep the scale closer to 1/12). The CRT.5 is a great little truck, and it can be turned into a little rocket ship pretty easily. These are rugged little units as well, but they aren’t as rugged as a 1/8 buggy. These are less expensive and easier to bring up to speed vs. the 1/8 buggies.



Basically, any of the three vehicles will be a good choice. It is hard to pick just one!

The RC8 problems are fixed, and AE will send you the new updated parts if you get a older version........

The eight is cool, but theres not much room on the chassis for stuff

The .5 is one of my favorites, its a fun as heck car, and its pretty cheap
