Check out my new (to me) Lipo! - 03.14.2008, 04:04 PM

Just got this from a guy on rcforums. Killer deal, he said it has about 20 cycles on it. Looks to be in brand new condition, save for some slight scuffs on the heat shrink.

It is a poly rc 25c 3700mah 5s lipo. Anyone know what cells are in it? Possibly enerland, from what I have read.

Oh, paid 75 bucks for it shipped, and it was in balance and fully charged!

Looks like a great deal to me. I just ordered my first TrueRC pack. 4s2p 8000. Hope it does well in my revo!

Well, it will pull double duty in my tekno revo with the aveox 2000 kv motor, and in the other revo with the hacker c50 13l. I will most likely run it in Some other vehicles that I have too, just need to build them!

Well, gave it a try today. Used it in my tekno revo, with a quark 80 airmaster and an aveox 2000kv motor (l length can). Revo has 15/40 primary gearing and the wide ratio 2 speed tranny.

Good lord it has power! This battery blows away my maxamps 5000 5s pack in full throttle from a standstill. Power output is up, everywhere. This thing will almost back flip as it hits second gear. It will easily wheely at almost any speed.

So lets look at the specs of this battery and compre it to my previous maxamps 5s.

Poly rc - 3700 mah, 25c rating = 92.5amps continuous
Maxamps - 5000mah, 20c rating = 100amps continuous

So the poly rc has less, not by much. It obviously does not drop much voltage under load. Whereas the maxamps lipos do. Plus the maxamps packs were almost new, less than 10 cycles, and the previous owner said that the poly rc battery had "at least" 25 cycles.

I could not be happier with this battery. I would have some runtime numbers, but I broke the al rear skid and one hinge pin fell out. I will charge the battery and see how much goes back in. I ran for about 20min. The esc was ok, motor was a tad hot, but the body does not have any cooling holes in it. I could also do with another clip on heatsink. The battery was warm, probably 110f. I have a feeling that it was close to dumping, but the performance had not declined.

The truck is too fast, I will go down to a 14t clutch bell and see how it does.

I also have another revo with a 15l c50 hacker and a locked in 2nd gear tranny. We will see how it does with this battery. Just need to finish it up and wire the electronics.

Nice findings. I have a few of the 25C poly RC and Hyperion enerland cell packs. They do seem to be true rated, generally the cells hit 3.4 to 3.5v per cell under the continuous rated amperage (logged with eagle tree @ 10hz). I have a 3700 hyperion 3s pack that has been doing duty in my XX buggy with a Castle 4600 system. Wheelies at about any time, and the pack slips right in.

So that was you I sold it too. I'm glad it has a nice home now. I never used the thing but for rockcrawling and I was way to much power for that. Funny that John posted, I bought it from him, awesome pack!

So you are Chris A? Thanks for the great deal. I am suprised you did not realize it was me, as I have the same user name on most forums.

You run a rock crawler on 5s?!

Stupid me, it's a 5S pack. Sorry it was early, I sold one that was 3S just a little while ago. Ignore my post, I'm a idiot

That's a great deal for a 5S pack though. You always seem to find the good stuff.

Thats fine, I did not think it was you. These are great cells. i want to run a few more packs thru the tekno revo and give the other revo a try too.

I do quite a bit of searching and always try to barter as much as possible. Plus it seems like alot oof the airplane guys either do not use 5s, or are moving on to higher voltage.

Tested this battery again today in the tekno revo. It still suprises me, especially flipping over when 2nd gear hits. I got about 20mins before I ripped out a rear pivot ball!

Oh well, stuff happens. Afte charging the battery, 20mins had removed about 3100 mah, so I figure that it should be good for 25mins.

Amazing what batteries that hold voltage under load can do for a system. Some folks get it, some don't. I do my best to keep my customers and drivers on top of this stuff so that we can get more education about the systems in our hobby.

You you have a logger linc? I have quite a few logged runs on my 3700 packs.

I have a brand new eagletree that I have had for about 6 months. Still in the packet! Need to open it up and figure it out.
