Soft start ESC? - 03.24.2008, 06:36 PM

Hey Guys,

I fried my Mamba Max ESC today (total meltdown) in my TXT based scratch built truck. The truck weighs 16 and 1/2 pounds and is running a Neu 1512 on 4S, a touch too much for the ESC.

Anyway, I fell in love with the punch control feature. With the horsepower I have, the truck was snap wheelying way too easily. Plus the TXT gears in the axles are really not good for harsh abuse like that. But, the punch control made the innitial hit alot softer and made the long power wheelies much more controllable.

So, my question is, what other ESC is out there with a soft start or punch control like that but will handle higher loads? Oh, and it has to be a reversing ESC.

I do have a 160 amp Com Pro ESC that has reverse and even a throttle delay, but is a programming NIGHTMARE! Are there any other ESCs that will fit the bill?

Matt

The Quark does have some sort of start power setting. But considering the price, you might be better off waiting for the MMM....

Send in your MM with 50bux and get a new one. Sell it and look for a better ESC.

I say try the MGM as well. The throttle delay setting should be about the same as punch control.

Its a 1512/2D/F.

I will throw my MGM in for now. I hate the programming, though. It takes forever to program and forever, again, to reprogram it trying to make changes. Really aggrivating.

Anyway, I cannot wait for the MMM to be released.

I will keep you guys posted.

Do you have a computer?

Pick up the USB Com+. It makes programming the MGM's much much easier. One day I will have one too...

I got it running with the MGM. I even got the throttle ramp up worked out. I hate programming that thing. But, I think I am getting proficient at it.

Thanks for the input!

Good to hear. MGM makes solid controllers.
