Gorillamaxx Driveshafts

Just thought of something . I'm attempting to use the driveshafts I recieved with my gorillamaxx kit with an emaxx tranny and the rear shaft is too long. Is this because they make the shaft to work with there singlespeed conversion ? My kit is not new and at first I thought the shaft was the wrong size but now think it's correct but I'm not using the singlespeed conversion. Am I correct on this ? And if so , anyone using the full emaxx tranny what size rear driveshaft are you using ? Thanks,Jerry

Not sure if this helps any; but the Gorilla max single speed conversion still uses the same (stock) output shaft, so there’s no change in the length of required F/R center-shafts whether the tranny is stock (2-speed) or converted (Gmax) single speed. That said; anybody with a Emaxx tranny equipped revo can probably tell you which rear shaft they used.

Thanks but that confirms my rear driveshaft is not the correct one then :(

This question should be easy to answer by those running an emaxx tranny in a revo.

But if not; you can use a small wooden towel and begin mocking-up the necessary size that fits between the drive-cups. Once you have a trimmed down template, measure it with some precision (caliper) and begin searching for similar sized center shafts. I too am doing this process now for a custom project. It sucks, but the dowl will cut down on trial & error.

I had the exact same problem with my rear driveshaft on my G3R! But i managed to cut a bit off from the shaft on the rear differential, then i could slide the outdrive on to it long enough to fit the GorillaMaxx driveshaft. :) I hope that helps.

Thanks for the great ideas. I dont believe the dogbones I was given with my chassis are actually GM dogbones. The front fits but doesnt look like the ones from GF and the rear is not even close. I just need some measurments and I will try to find some on ebay . Jerry

Are you running the extended chassis? Maybe you have an extended rear dogbone, but not the extended chassis?

It's just a GR2 chassis, I assume there a standard length . The front one fits, the rear is about a 1/4 too long.

I can't get an exact measurement cause mine is in but it should be close to 3.25"

If I am thinking correctly, some mods are required. See the Revo thread or do a search for that info.

Lots of threads on conversions - some dremelling for clearance to fit transmission, clearance on driveshafts etc but pretty easy.
