i had a 46 tooth plastic on mine for a while, the holes need to be reamed a little to match up the bolt pattern , i had to just take my time and be sure the holes lined up as to not strip out the mounting screw holes, i didnt have any leaks either

Hmmm, what do you mean by "ream" the holes?

ill try to get a pic up later, the spacing is about 1-2 mm to narrow to fit perfect, so i reamed the holes with a body reamer in the direction i needed the screw hole to go, i think i had to go straight out towards the teeth with all four of the mounting holes

Yeah, I would love to see a picture of it. So you haven't had any problems with it then? I would think the gear mesh or something would be off.

I would imagine that could also leave room for diff fluid to leak out. Why not just get Mike's hardened pinions and use stock spur? Unless you are concerned about noise everyone here (including me) has been having great success with the hardened pinions.

I have mine on XB8EC and no wear problems at all.

Well, it's a combination of things for me. I really like the mesh and quietness of the plastic center spur for starters. And on top of that, the 44t spur gives me some nice options in gearing. The 15t pinion I have is one I got from Mike, so I think it will work fine - I'm just exploring my options so when the MM gets here I'm set.

I think if I use some teflon tape around the screws, they won't leak diff fluid too. Just a thought.

Xray makes a 44T for the XB8 and XT8.

I just compared the part numbers between the spurs for the xb8 and xt8 and they are the same:
355048 Center Diff Spur Gear 48T
355049 Center Diff Spur Gear 47T
355050 Center Diff Spur Gear 46T
355051 Center Diff Spur Gear 45T
355052 Center Diff Spur Gear 44T
