CRT.5 with Sidewinder - 05.01.2008, 01:26 PM

I am looking at getting a CRT.5 with Sidewinder 5700 setup. It says you can only run a 2s but I was thinking I would want 3s. Has anyone used this setup on 3s? Is it worth the extra 50 bucks for mamba 5700? Or the sidewinder 4600 can run 3s... bahh to many options. what doe you guys recommend?

Depends on what you are going to do with it... If you start stretching the chassis and using bigger tires etc I would go for a mm and an L can...

At the least I would go with the MM, of course it's not much more $$ to get the MMM. You Don't have to run the MMM on 6S, it will still do 2-3-4-5S just fine too, and you wouldn't have to upgrade later if you wanted higher voltage.

If you go MM and 3S, your gonna want the CC UBEC to keep the temps down, might as well put that extra $ into getting the MMM that has a built in UBEC.

I would get the ESC and then pick up a less expensive motor like a fiegao or the medusa's. It's cost effective and you won't be having heat issues.

Just my two cents.

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

The MM would be fine, but the 5700 will heat up too much unless you gear WAYYY down - like 9t or 10t. Better to get a Feigao L motor with the proper wind for the voltage you use...

5700 be to much espcially if you are wanting to run the 5700 motor, even the 4600 is abit on the high side. I've seen a few guys run the Traxxas motor in there which is a 3500kv motor.

What was your take on the Traxxas Velineon system in a crt.5? They seem like they might be a great 3s system for 10th scale that is cheap. They do seem to lack in programming like drag brake.

E-CRT.5 Monster - RCM chassis, MM/Medusa 50x3300/3s, truck tires, 1/8 shocks
E-CRT.5 Stock - Sidewinder/4600/2s, buggy tires

It would be more wise to buy the Velineon Motor and the Sidewinder ESC.
I was looking at running the Tekin Redline Motor in my CRT.5. They have a few more kv ratings http://www.teamtekin.com/blmotors.html
