New ESC and it's looking good - 05.06.2008, 02:35 PM

Hi all,

Here is the thread of the ESC that I was waiting for. This ESC is very nice and it is the only one that I know of in the US that has the car mode working. All the ones available in the US are for Aircraft only. This controller has a new 8 layer PCB, 120A max continous AMPs, Wireless programming and a built in Switching BEC 5V/2.4A cont. and 4A burst that works with up to 6S lipos. I have attached some pictures.

That looks like a solid controller, lutach. I like the idea of wireless programming.
What's the price for a thing like that?

The aircraft ones are sold through http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/ind...cPath=22_24_64 and they have it for $179.99. Those don't have the car program and this one has a new PCB. I like the wireless programming too. I'll see how it runs tomorrow.

Do you mean 8 PCBS, or a single PCB with 8 copper layers?

The heatsink looks nice, but the battery/motor labeling seems a bit superfluous. Interesting to see how it performs. Has about the same specs as a Quark 125; let's see if it will really do 6s well and how much it heats up...

Yes, it would be an 8-layer PCB, not 8 PCBs.

You sneaky guy you! I saw those a while ago (including pics of the program card) and was wondering about the little button that said "car"...

Should be fun to see how this thing runs.

I will see how much it'll heat up with 6S and that's all I'm going to run it with. Scorpion Systems said they had to do a new 8 layer PCB to lower the internal resistance. They were 1% less efficient then a Kontronik.

Sometimes it pays to sell electronic components. I wish I could show you the BOM for the PS4 ( I guess I said too much ). I hope they send me the 50V and 63V units as well to test.

Sexy. I was eyeballing those at the site linked quite some time ago. Where in the US can we obtain the car version ?

I was just going to ask the very same question, not that it matters any more since I have the MMM coming, but a solid 5/6s lipo escthat is a similar price would be a nice alternative.

$179 for unknown vs. $170 for castle? Nice find, but you know where my money's going! :)

The Scorpion stuff isn't really unknown. They're new, but not knockoffs.
