Cool Jammin Crt .5 conversion?? - 05.11.2008, 07:23 PM

alright i have a traxxas pede that i recently did a make over on and was stoked to get it out in the dirt. but whati soon realized that two wheel drive in the dirt realy isnt that much fun. so i think i want to get me a 4wd so i wanted to convert me a .5 crt. i was going to get the RTR one and selling off all the stuff that i dont need for the lectric part. what is the diffrence between the artr then the rtr one. also what would you guys reccomend i do while i process? like should i extend it or something? also i want to run 2.2 truck tires maybe some moabs that i have lieing around but thats just for grins and giggles.

well this is what i want to use so far;
.5crt truck
RCM motor mount
fiaego L sized motor
7-8 cell pack
MM
vileneon 3500kv motor
i want to reach speeds around 35mph maybe 40 but not more than that as this is a bashing truck.
so any help on this convfersion would be sweet. also pictures of your converted rides. thanks again

The RTR has a few different parts, I believe it has plastic shock towers, doesnt have a CF radio upper tray, and just a few little things, nothing that really matters IMO

Id do a 8 or 9L over the VXL, that should be perfect for your speed, and run perfect!

Here was mine

Specs are

RCM EXT chassis, and goodies
LRP Sphere TC
Orion 10.5
TrakPower 2s lipo
2.2 truck bow ties
HB's LS10 wing, and T4 body

I got me the kit so I wasn't paying for a nitro engine etc. I recommend the rcm chassis conversion. itll make it look really nice with 1/10 wheels, and help a lot with the layout, not to mention using a 1/10 servo too.

I run sidewinder with a 9L in mine on 3s 4000mah lipo, geared 14/46 and i think its perfect. its faster than I need it, and I can't even get the electronics warm no matter how hard I drive it. I originally had it geared 18/46 and the speeds were absolutely insane, but my batteries and esc would get hot quickly. Its certainly a fun truck :)

Not really, the ESC was right behind the motor, and other then that, everything else was on the chassis

Heres a OK pic

RTR comes with the ext. chassis (although I am pretty sure than now all CRT.5 come with the ext. chassis) and doesn't have CNC shock towers and other plastic items that you can just upgrade down the track. I would recommend try saving and get the RCM Conversion kit ($150). Be better off going with Lipo, 7-8 cell batterys will be pretty tight fit on the chassis

Id rather have BL over lipos also

It will run great on nimh cells, and when you go lipo, its like a whole new truck again!

Defintley, I was running BL in my 1/10 4WD Buggies. Would be pretty scary seeing go on lipo
