Southside RC track in Houston - 05.19.2008, 12:02 AM

I went out to our local track today with a couple of friends, and it had been a while since we had made it out to the track. To our surprise, they changed the layout of the track! It is a lot better now IMO. Before the layout was too tight you would come out of a tight turn and then have to hit a triple like 1-2 ft ahead. Now it's larger and has a real nice straight section. It has a double, triple, 4 small jumps, a rhythm section, a couple of drop-offs, and some other nice features. I ran all 3 of my trucks (BL Revo, BL X-1 CR, BL XXX-T MF2), one of my firends ran his 3 trucks (Revo 3.3, Jato 2.5R, BL XXX-T MF2), and my other friend ran his BL Hyper 7. We had an awesome time out there.

I think so far we are some of the only people to run BL trucks out there. Most of them are nitro. Some guys even run scented nitro like vanilla or grape, I don't know why.

This is our closest track at the moment, if anyone else lives in the area and knows of any other nice tracks around please feel free to let me know. I'll try to take a better panoramic picture of it next time I go out there. I'll post a short video of the E-Revo when I get a chance.

Here are some pics of the track and all of our trucks:

Sounds like they are gay...or possibly riding the fence. Watch where you stand if they are out there, keep your back to something solid.

Nice looking track, wish I had something local like that. I have a park behind a church and a baseball field, both 1 block from my shop!

Hey I just went to check out that track a couple months ago! I think that track is the best one on the south end of Houston and there are some on the north end but I do not know how good they are for off road.

Cool to see some fellow rc-monsters in the area! What area are you from? I am located in Friendswood.

Keep your back to something solid, now that is just to damned funny You kill me linc.

Hey that is a pretty cool track. Is that a county parks or something? It's nice the way it is all fenced in and has parking setup for such a rural area, but no pit area?? The layout looks pretty simple and fun to drive on. Don't worry, be happy.

Lincpimp that's hilarious! You alway have to keep an eye out for that kind-of stuff you know. Where do you come up with this stuff! Keep it up though, your entertaining. I have a couple of parks within walking distance that we sometimes set up a makeshift track out existing hills and some of those plastic kicker ramps. It's fun to do that when you can't make it out to the track.

I practically live right next door to you. I live in the sagemont area probably not even 5 minutes from you. PM me some time and maybe we could go to the track. They are supposed to be having HARC races this Saturday, it would be nice to go check it out.

It is a nice track, I guess it is a little simple but it's a blast! It's only the second track I've been to around here (The first being Fastrack, which closed down). No it's not a county track or park. It's right next door to a hobby shop so it's nice that if you break something you're already at the shop. The bad thing is sometimes you end up spending more than you should. Some of you guys know what I'm talking about, when you just keep fixing it at the track and you don't know when to stop rather than just calling it quits for the day . Yeah, it does have a pit area behind where I took the panoramic, and a pit box, covered driver stand, and a place to tune under the driver's stand. I think they also have the track set-up for use with transponders but that I'm not sure about. Next time I go out there I'll take some more and better pictures for you guys.

Hey theres my Hyper 7 Thas pretty funny Linc. Yeah the track layout is awsome! Before it was too tight, more like a 1/10 track. But now with the straight and the doubles it real nice

You dont have to be faster than the dog just your friends!

You don't know how lucky you are to have a track that nice near you. the closest
one to me is over 2.5 hrs. away..hence, the reason I don't race anymore.

Yeah it is nice to have a track like that nearby, but the thing is that most of the time I don't get a chance to go out there. I'm usually too busy either with work or college. For instance, the last time I got to go out there before this past weekend was right before the spring semester started back in January. The bad thing about that, is that just when you start getting better out there, they change a part of the track or the whole thing and then the next time I go I have to start learning the track all over again.

But, I do enjoy going out there. Even though it's only practice when I go, I still enjoy mock racing the nitros (the other guys don't know I'm racing them, although sometimes it's pretty obvious). Oh, and it's funny to see the nitro guys have to come back to the pits every 10 minutes while I'm out there on the track with my E-Revo for about an hour and a half. I get plenty of practice time on a single charge.
