Would u pay $2835.00 for this E-Baja with Lehner 8hp motor, 150amp 4-10S Brushless Speed Control, 2 6S 6000Mah 30c Lipos, and 50mph.

This is a niche market - There are no other "shops" that I'm aware of doing pre-converted cars. If you add up the cost of donor car, motor, esc and bats - I'm sure it is getting above 2k.

Chris is running a business I'm sure he doesn't expect to sell that many and has to recover his time and investment. This is targetted at a few people with money who want a pre-done car.

My analogy - some people buy an old car and spend hours rebuilding it, some buy an old car and send it to a shop to renovate, some buy the once it is clean, some buy a modern replica. There are always horses for courses - variety and choices are the spice of life (eh linc)

Come on we all knew that a baja 5B would be converted sooner or later. That thing is pretty sweet needless to say, but the price reflects not only the material used but obviously their time as well. Lets be real here most of us would love to have it, but not at that price, because a lot of us could just build it on our own for less. Just a guess, but the buggy runs about $1000. The batteries are approx $400. motor $400. ESC like $500 and we will give them $500 for misc build materials, which adds up to about $2800 if we were to purchase and build this project. They probably got a few breaks on their purchases as a friendly slide, and Yea you could nickle and dime some of the parts, but that is a very real figure.

So is the purchase of this thing worth it? I guess it depends on how bad you want the E-Baja 5B(rare), and how limited your talent and resouces are. I would love to have that puppy in my toy collection, but I have enough projects going on already and that is more money then I am willing to spend at the monent. It will be a nice toy for someone out there. So if you have the money and your game for playing with a $3000 toy then go for it. I know that two of my SuperMaxx trucks have about that much in them already. So why not????

So what makes you think that it is not capable? Plus this is another E conversion which means no fuel to mess with, no plugs to foul, no tuning. Just plug and play. You can mess with the gearing and maybe get a little bit more speed or whatever you want.

No, I love the fact that mine is a 2 stroker!!!! It would just be way too weird on a big 5th scale to have no engine sound..... Plus I have a ESP 27.2 Zenoah.

I am with you! A fraction of the price, just as functional, with the body on it looks about the same.

I was going to say that the batteries would not be able to supply the power to that motor... but a quick calc later shows that it would. Seems to add up as far as what components he used, let's just hope he never cheated somewhere crucial.

The thing that really gets FD, is his attitude... I had a bad experience with him.

Plus those are not the best lipos...

Also, how good is his motor mount?

i guess i didnt really word it right, ive seen a baja 5b run and they are huge, not the nimblest buggy either, kinda clunkly to jump, and they dont like being cartwheeled (broken front arm when i was watching) the owner siad him self just the shear size and sound of it was really what made it fun. in his opinion and from what i watched 1/8th scales are much tougher and handle better plus there 4wd. i dunno i wouldnt mind getting a nitro one if i had an extra grand laying around but i dont think id ever fork over enough to make a brushless one.

I disagree on the jumping part. And in my opinion they are very durable right out of the box!! I do not baby mine at all. You really cannot compare the 1/5th scales with the 1/8th scales. Two totally different classes.

Looking at the pictures more after reading linc's post, the workmanship just isn't any where near justifying that price. The ESC is exposed to whatever can come at it, the motor connectors should be heat-shrink to protect from elements. It looks too much like a cheap hack job.

Also, on that motor at 22.2 volts it has the ability to pull over 300 amps, on a 150 amp controller, and 180 amp batteries? Wouldn't he had been better off going 12s, or am I missing something here?

It also seems to me this could have been done with a neu 1527 motor as well and if not then a 2200 series would surely be enough, I mean they toss some pretty stinking big and heavy aerobatic planes around so why not and at 300 bucks cheaper than the lehner.
