Anyone has ever tried to put A123 on Gorilla chassis?

Has anyone tried this ?
Since the size of the cell is so different than others, I think it is not so easy to place two 5s or 6s batteries on the chassis with the battery straps.
I would like to know how experienced guys do that?

I put a triangle 3cell pack on my G3R chassis with no problem. It's the perfect width and the velcro straps hold 'em down fine. I run a 3cell pack on each side.

I ran 5s on each side today... Cells are a little long but it worked ok.

They look so huge and almost as high as the upper deck.
How do you fixed the 6s pack? With straps?
If with straps, it seems difficult due to the triangle shape.
I am planning to mount double 5s.

What motor do you have? How long of run time do you get with a setup like this? I saw on A123's web site that you could do a 15min quick charge. Is that true?

That's a Feigao 10XL motor. I get about 15-20 mins runtime out of them.

And yes, if you can charge them in 15 minutes. I have a hyperion 1210 charger and it'll charge the pack at 10amps and be done in about 15 minutes.

Mounting triangle 6s packs will be done with the stock Gorillamaxx straps, or something abit more heavy duty if I feel the need. A strap or two running across the packs would be much more secure, just need to find something suitable... **to ebay he went, with a smile and cheer**.

Neil, I went to the hardware store and bought some velcro and the plastic piece. I mad my own straps from these. Total cost: $6. I'll post a pic when I go home for lunch .

I would like to ask how you guys solder the cells like that.
I think the negative terminal has a venting hole which should not be sealed with solder.
Please tell me how to do that and correct me if I am wrong.

I believe there is a vent on one end, and a filling hole that is sealed on the other- I foregt which end each is on. As for soldering, you just go around them- I used a piece of 14g wire either side of the vent, though you can buy special A123 battery bars that even have a hole in the middle for balance tap wires:

I have some of those batt bars, but what I want to know is how you take care of the end to end joint? When you remove these from a 36v pack, you could cut the pack up into pairs of cells. Are you just bending these to make them end to end using the dewalt connection?

I run 5s2p a123s in my flm emaxx where I have the room, they are kinda bulky though and wouldn't easily fit a G2R which I also have. I have just taken another 36v pac apart and want to use them in my g2R but don't uinderstand how everyone is doing the end to end joint. Thanks

Actually, what I meant is the soldering of a string of cells.
Side by side soldering is easy with wire or bars but how to solder a pair of terminals face to face.
