Fixed Mmm ....dead....again... - 06.05.2008, 03:07 AM

....So I finally get the final piece to complete my brushless 8ight conversion (battery tray) and I get everything hooked and it's powered on with the fan buzzing as usual....when suddenly as i was adjusting the toe on my front wheels the MMM fan stops and the whole thing shuts down ...This may seem like the same old story with all the MMM dying however....THIS MMM already had the warranty work done on it with the new component already soldered onto the circuit board.....hmmmm....it's a good thing i still have my old MM otherwise my 8ight project would have been put on hold ...anyways my setup was.....8ight...neu 1515 1/y/f....and the battery was a 4s 5000mah thunderpower lipo (25c) and i didn't even get to rev the throttle since i was just messing around with setting the steering up right......I have another MMM thats in my 8ight-t that is working flawlessly on 6s but I'm running the CC BEC on it.....what do you guys think of this?

This does not sound good. It seems that CC hasnt found all the reasons for the failing of the MMM......

Maybe better to run the CC BEC until CC has all the bugs worked out and then try the MMM without the external gear and see if it works

You aren't the first. I think there are 4 people now who have have repaired MMMs fail. I got my MMM back yesterday afternoon and I sent it back this morning. I am not angry with castle, but this does suck. My car was going so well until it stopped lol.

Man, that sucks! Perhaps Castle realised after the first few "repairs" that the issue wasn't properly being fixed, hence telling others that they'd have to wait for the next run? Who knows. What a pain though. Castle need to get these issue sorted out sharpish, before the rep of the MMM gets any permanent damage.

I was about to ask the same question..... So far all the failure I've seen were not using the CCBEC....or I just didn't heard about it. I'm running mine with the CCBEC and so far so good. I've run my 5th pack last night and it's still going strong.

Well I'm hoping third time lucky. I have a ccbec but I don't think I will bother. I'm sure castle will get it right third time.

knock on wood..... I am still on my first MMM working flawlessly with no warranty work.
First batch towerhobbies sent out. Have ran it on 4s maxamps 5000mah with 8xl and now on a 5s flightpower 5000mah with neu 1515 1y. Both were on a FLM savage with 16/47 and occasional 18/47.

Forgot to say the MMM is all stock no mods, using internal BEC.

With my MMM I've had my lipo fly out of the emaxx yanking on wires and unplugging the deans connector twice and I've fragged a magnet and blew off the end bell in my 8XL motor and it still was moving the r/c. My tower hobbies first batch is still kicking too with internal bec. So far my CC experience has been 100% Phoenix 10, mamba 25(2), Mamba Max(2), Mamba Monster

funny you comment on the 8xl. The same thing happened to mine. Blew the front and rear end bell off. I went with the 1y after that (got it cheap from a member on the forums here)

I got mine back from repair before last weekend. I ran it about 40 to 50 minutes and found I had a broken fan blade. When I got home I took the fan out to replace it & found that the fan wires had some of the insolation rubbed off the wire right where the wire turns under the edge of the PCB. Had I run the car much more this bare positive wire would have shorted out on the PCB. If the positive wire on that fan shorts out I'm sure it will take other stuff out. This whole problem MIGHT be as simple as poor wire routing & nothing more.

That is a good point. could be that towers first batch has better fan wire routing. I think it is definitely worth a look.
