well, here's pics and description of my muggy project....

so, I will say my MMM died immediately and leave it at that.

Here's what the project is: Muggy, changed the diffs to silicone fluid (comes with grease), aluminum diff housings, futaba digital steering servo, RCM motor mount, spektrum radio and pro receiver, Tekno Neu 1515/1Y, MMM, deans throughout, 6S Hyperion 4800mah, custom THICK chassis brace on top, XTM wheels w/ crimefighters for dirt, and phaltlines on tremors for street, 17mm hexes, braided sleeve on all the wires, aluminum servo horn, cut servo tray, mudguards, rcscrewz metric steel screw kit, hyperion charger, 12 and 18T pinions, LST1 body (made to fit), and a home made battery tray from sheetmetal, but that has GOT to go!! I'm gonna replace that with a real battery tray.

Enjoy some pics, and just think, right now, in real life, just like these pics, my Muggy is NOT moving!!! DARN MMM!!!!!!!

I got it off ebay a long time ago. I've used metal braided sleave, and this plastic stuff. They both look cool, but they both are a royal PITA. They're just difficult to work with, and I still haven't figured out how to get a clean termination, but I'm not that smart. The metal stuff was expensive though, so I wouldn't bother, but this plastic stuff was cheap! Just do a search on ebay for braided sleeve and see what comes up.

I hope it goes soon too, but I'm planning for the worst here. As of today, Castle is out of stock on the parts to repair the MMM, and they have no ETA. For now, I'll enjoy the videos on youtube of OTHER PEOPLE'S crazy fast brushless setups!!!!!!!!!!!!

(when i was modding my PSU i noticed it was very messy when you cut it... would a lighter singing the ends help this? hoe did you stop it from fraying,

burning it with a lighter only seems to help when it's not actually installed ON something. Otherwise, when you put the sleeve over a wire, then burn it, it just makes it worse than it already was! I suppose heat shrink would work, but I don't think it will work that well. I'll try that method when my MMM returns someday. Someday........

Why you put your ESC on this place? its most dirtiest place, all rocks dust etc will be in your ESC. Why put somwhere higher and to the middle?

I was thinking of starting a new project, and this looks like it maybe it.. so that is just a losi 8ight converted? Do you have a more detailed thread on the build and your part list? I'm running my eRevo now and love it, but now that it is really pretty much complete I'm finding myself wanting a new project to keep busy with :) If you have the time more detail of the process any pics and some details on the parts would be outstanding... thanks!! The controller location is actually not bad at all, IMO. It isn't the dirtiest place if you have a mud guard and a body installed, and with most batteries used in these big trucks, installing the motor, controller and electronics opposite the battery makes for excellent weight balance. Keeping the controller down on the chassis keeps Cg low as well.
I often install my controllers in the very same place, actually. :)

you use normal heat shrink of the same color on each end to clean it up an keep it from fraying

stum - this is not the 8 T, it's the Muggy. It's a hybrid monster truck - LST suspension, built on a truggy chassis, with a truggy drivetrain. IMO, it's the perfect basher / all around RC vehicle. Not the best at anything, but awesome at everything. Or at least I've heard, and hope, since I haven't actually used it yet ;) I'll post some more details soon.

tom - I put it there for weight balance, like Monster Mike said. If you add the weight of every single component on the motor side of the truck, it's STILL a little lighter than just a 6S 4800 battery! BUT, this was a nitro truck, so the battery sits a little closer to center. Sooo, in the end, I ended up with a truck with excellent weight distribution. As for dirt, it has mudguards, and a body will certainly help out a lot. IF it becomes an issue later, I'll fix it.

Looks good. I bought the XTM Mammoth 6.125" wheel/tire for my BPP truck as the normal truggy wheel/tire combo kind of looks too small for the big 1/8 scale truggies. The only problem is the added weight on the drive train.

How strong is a muggy compared to something like a savage?

Whats the weight on the beast?

I dunno how strong it is compared to the king of bashing savage, but It seems like it will hold up VERY well, and it's from Losi, and based on lots of very well proven stuff here. This beast tips the scales at about 12 pounds; it ain't light! FO SHIZZLE!
