MM Stalling? - 09.04.2008, 02:16 AM

Hey guys, I have a MM 6900 in a XXX-4 I just got done building up and its having some issues its never had before. If you really hammer on the throttle from a dead standstill the motor seems to lock up and have no idea what direction to turn. Even with a small rolling start it will do the same thing. If you slowly (very slowly) roll on the throttle there isnt any issue but the system is more or less rendered useless with the current setup.

I know its geared properly, under geared if anything. Running a matched 6 cell Nimh though Spektrum radio gear so I doubt im getting any hits. I ran this same motor/esc in my CRT.5 and it was way too hot of a motor for the truck.. however it never had these issues before. Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks in advance.

Does the ESC smell burnt at all? Can I assume that the ESC heats up quickly when it "stalls"?

It would get hot very fast if you repeatedly stalled it.

I just took a Flightpower 2 cell Lipo I had in my Clod to give it a go and it seems to have fixed the issue. The 6 cell pack was an older one that had ran fine with the previous brushed setup.. guess it just didnt have the juice to feed the Mamba. Guess I solved my own problem .

I really need to just stop playing with my older packs and just go all Lipo with the fleet. It seems every issue I seem to have with a setup ends up being the battery hah.

I would also check the esc to motor connections. I had all kinds of problems with them. I ended up slighly deforming the female plugs so that the male ends fit tightly in them, problems solved...
