Starting to wonder... -
09.13.2008, 12:57 AM
Before I begin, a little background:
I purchased 2 MMM v1 escs thru Mike's pre-order. I ran one and left the other un-opened. The 1st is still going strong. About 3 weeks ago I decided to run the other in a truck I just finished. It died, and I sent it back to CC (I paid for the postage). They sent me back a v2, and I got about 15mins from it. So I decided to call, and get them to send me another v2 and a mailer.
I figured that I had sent one back on my own dime, so they could cover the shipping for the failed replacement. They have done this for others, so it was not like I was looking for "special attention".
So I called on Monday, 9/8, and left a message for Morgan (I was directed by a recording to leave her a message). I waited a few hours, and called back. This time another lady transfered me to her. Morgan seemed very nice, and took down my info, phone number and email addy. See said that tech support would contact me about my V2 failure. She said that there were a few isolated cases, and tech wanted to address them personally.
Next day I get a call from CC, but it was Morgan again asking me for the same info I had given the day before. Strange, maybe it was mis-placed. Again she said that tech would contact me. I will note that I am on-line all day, and have my business phone on me the entire time I am open, which is also CC's operating hours. And I check all messages and missed calls I receive outside of operating hours.
So it is now Friday evening, and I have not received any calls or emails from CC. I see no reason for this, after providing contact info twice, and being reasonably patient. If there were so few problems with the V2, tech support should be able to call me up or at least send me an email asking whatever questions they want to. I can only imagine the problems are being downplayed, and tech is swamped trying to figure this stuff out. Or nobody wants to call me back!!!
Not trying to be a dick, but I figured since the Pres of CC does seem to frequent this forum, he may want to have some feedback on his employees.
I have also found out that CC has run out of V2 escs to send as replacements. This happened after I called, so if they had just sent me one out when I called then I might have it by now. Oh well, at least I have a spare MMM v2. And a few quark 125b backups.
I imagine that they will try to fix the various issues before producing any more escs. I am not even going to bother to ask when that will be, as I am sure that they have no better idea than I...
I have been a strong supporter of CC during this, as I know how it goes in business. Hopefully they can rectify the various issues, as the MMM works so well...

At least you don't have to pay as much postage compared to people outside the U.S. I paid $7 each time I send my MMM to them. Calling is out of the question because of outrageous international phone rates unless I really wanted to talk to a CC personnel.
I just sent my 2nd MMM(my first V2) and it will be awhile until I get a replacement. I just hope Luciano's Chinese ESC will be reliable because as of right now, I'm losing faith on CC's ability to mitigate these problems.
By the way, for those of you who have not seen CC yet, check this post from RCgroups.com

Wow! the CC facility sure looks impressive.
It makes you wonder why they can't troubleshoot the MMM with such a
professional setup. I'm sure there is a lot more to it than we have been told.
Those Chinese ESC's you mentioned look very similar to the one I showed you
and am using right now. If Hobbycity can get those car versions then it will be
cheap 6S controllers for everybody!

I agree with your assessment GT. I think it is at par with the Chinese ESCs manufacturing facilities .
I do hope Hobbycity gets those car versions. More options to choose from.
Has anyone noticed that Patrick has not been here that much lately?

That's what makes me afraid to run the ESC. Failures that fry hundreds of dollars worth of servos and receivers. What's their policy on when their factory defects cause failure of other components?

Jeff, just use an rx pack. I highly doubt CC will replace them but I hope they do.

I while back when I first contacted Hobbywing (They make the ESC you mentioned) for that ESC to be a car version, they said it couldn't be done. I'm not sure if Hobbycity knows who makes the ones I have. I asked the folks at Hobbycity for one as well and got tired of waiting. Plus Hobbycity will look for the cheapest place to get their items and I don't think the ESC I have will be a good thing for them.

Ok lutach, looks like I'll just get one from you when you have them.
If its anything like the Turnigy Plush it will be very nice. People were saying that the MMM
is smooth, but comparing the two I'd have to say they don't know what smooth is.
