lipo batts - 10.29.2005, 04:43 PM

hi, i'm planning on using two lipo batts(each one is 11.1 V 4000 mA) and wire them in series. but i'm not sure if the warrior 9918 ESC could handle it. do i need to add something else to make sure it doesn't explode?

thanks

A low voltage cut off would help protect the batteries. That away you don't over draw the batts and ruin them. That would be a 6s total on batts. I not sure if the esc would take it. It should but I let some one else answer that.

Peace!

It should be able to handle 6s Lipo. Fully charged, that would be 25.2volts, and 20 cells fully charged are ~26-28volts. Nominal, 6s Lipo is at 22.2v, and 20 cells are at 24v. So, 6s Lipo is within the controllers limits :).

A LVC (low-voltage cutoff) device as mentioned by coolhand will keep the batteries from going below 3volts/cell, which is a requirement. BTW, Lipo cells won't "explode" ;).

You can use this device:
http://66.241.195.91/lithium/lithium.asp?path1=lithium It connects to the positive and negative of the battery, and it does have a polarity. I believe that the device no longer looks like that, but the wires are still the same.

If this stuff weren't expensive, then everyone would have a brushless Lipo car! Prices are going down, though, even if it is only gradual.
