Cool Power is back on, lets buy some parts - 09.16.2008, 08:02 PM

With hurricane Ike gone and power finnaly back on . Its time to buy some parts for my hyper 8. Just need some advice to make it the meanest at the track. Any upgrades you can think of would be fine. Can the 8 be converted in to a 8.5, with extended chassi and such. Any weak points it the hyper 8 i should know of??

You can convert the Hyper 8 to a Hyper 8.5, with the Hyper 8.5 chassis, dogobones, chassis braces, and the brace that goes under the center bulkheads.

Big bore shocks would help if you would like to shell out the cash for them.

I never really found a weak point in my Hyper 8 Pro during the ~1 year I had it. However, the plastic bushings that go in the rear hubs do tend to get sloppy after a while, which adds a lot of play. If you keep some extras on hand that won't be an issue.

The weak spot in my Hyper 8 is the chassis. Of course, it doesn't help hitting a wall at around 30ish mph while in the air right in the center of the chassis.

Ah, yes, the chassis. I too bent my chassis a little, but somehow managed to let it bend itself back . Brian, you have the 8.0, correct?

Yup. Ran a bunch of times with no reliability issues before this, so I'm happy. Still looking for a sweet deal on a chassis, but I'm in no hurry so I can shop around. Usually, I find a deal on something a day or two after I get it. Patience is a virtue.

I was looking at an extended chassis, but think it may make chassis flex worse. Besides, everything fits perfectly the way it is. The extended ones I did see offer only 4mm, which is not really enough to make a difference room-wise, yet just enough to be a PITA because then you need extra stuff like new dogbones, braces, and body.

Yes, I was looking into the big bores but what kind should look into Overall im tring to sheld some uneeded weight. If the 8.5 is only 4mm longer. Ill keep the stock chassi. Any race upgrades like Carbon fiber or Alloy parts. My chassi has held up pretty good I think my 8.0 is a pro but how can I truly tell.
