A small afternoon project... - 09.30.2008, 07:07 PM

No the title is not misleading, I actually did this in an hour, so it is a small project for me!

Recently bought a few new chargers, so I decided to make a portable charging station for my buddies and I when we go rock crawling. Most of us use 1800-2100 3s lipos, or 4000 2s lipos. I had the case, it is for a jigsaw. Just cut out most of the dividers, and trimmed some high desity foam for the chargers. The power supply fits perfectly height wise, and I added some foam above the chargers on the inside of the lid to keep them in place during transport. The little space on the right side is for balancers and adapter harnesses, and on the right I have the cord for the power supply, and a long harness to use with a 12v battery in a car (has alligator clips on the end). Both chargers are wired together, but i can unplg one if I want to. All connections are 4mm bullets.

I will have to rebuild my charge station (some of you will remember that), as I now have 2 MRC 989, 2 ICE, and 2 other Hyperion 5i chargers.

I got two of those sitting downstairs for that exact same purpose. I tried like the dickens to get the dewalt logo off - DNA, MPK, heat....nothing took that paint off.

Where does one get that foam? I've been wanting to do the same thing, but the foam I find is either too soft (hard to cut and doesn't hold shape) or really hard and doesn't do much for padding.

I procured mine from a box that had a chevy 4 door truck headliner in it, so the foam was free (headliner was $537 though). Thick foam is quite difficult to find. Fabric stores would be my first choice, maybe they can special order the foam...

This the sort of stuff you are after
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/PELICAN-PICK-...dZp1638Q2em122

We call that pull apart foam. You just don't let kids or fiddling partners near it or you end up with an expensive pile of little bits of foam.

Very nice - I've got the same Pre-Peak power supply and it's got plenty of ooomph to drive two chargers at once.

Thats a very nice storage spot you made there linc. Nice job! Can you tell me or do you know if that power supply you have will give a Hyperion EOS0610i the full power of 360watts? Here is the charger if you need the specs of it. Thanks in advance!
