mod1 or 32 pitch? - 10.07.2008, 11:34 AM

Im looking for a pinion to run on the nue 1515/1y that i have on order, as of right now it has the stock revo spur. will a mod1 pinion work with the stock 32 pitch spur or will I have to get a 5mm 32 pitch pinion, because i havnt seen any. also, if i must use a different spur do you guys have any recommendations? The motor is the tekno nue finned version, wich i hear limits the geraing options a bit, and im looking for 40-45 mph.

Thanks!

Toys:

Slash with VXL
E-revo with MMM/Teckno Nue 1515/1yf running 4s and 5s

you need 32p all around, mod1 will not mesh with 32p.

I assume you mean the e-revo? AFAIK, you can mount the motor in such a way to reduce the majority of gearing limitations. And if gearing options still concern you, just measure from the motor shaft to spur shaft at the min and max motor adjustment positions and then use this page along with the available spur options to calculate what your pinion range is.

A Mod 1 pinion will work....to remove all those annoying teeth off of the 32P spur!

Another option for going to mod1 is to get Monster GT spur gears. All you have to do is bore out 3 of the slipper peg holes to 5mm (about 13/64") and it is a press fit onto the slipper clutch. The sizes are 46t, 49t, and 52t.

or nitro revo or jato gears which are a direct fit

Jato gears are still Mod0.8 (32p), and nitro Revo gears typically are too small to allow the pinion/spur to mesh (especially with finned Neu motors).

Because the Slayer and Revo (nitro) use the same design tranny, and both are Mod1.

The revo nitro cars and variants use Mod 1 - the eRevo/emaxx are mod .8 /32p. I believe to to pinion availability - no .125' Mod 1 pinions.
