Am I the only one who would like to see better energy density on lipos?

Just an opinion - I see thread after thread after thread on the latest 25C and then 30C and then 35C lipos - generally each one weighing a little bit more per mAh unit than the last (ie: Neu 25C for 1000mAh is lighter than Neu 30C for 1000mAh).

I don't think many of us in general are pushing more than 2000 - 2500 watts burst in our trucks and for a 6S 5000mAh that is still under a 25C constant pull rating and and well under the 50C burst rating on 4S for a good solid Enerland based pack.

I would rather see the energy density of lipos getting better at this point rather than get more higher C ratings. It would benefit me/us more at this point to see 6000 or 8000 mAh packs that are the same size and weight as the current 5000mAh cells. This would translate more into better runtime and stronger competition against nitro having packs that could last for 30 - 45 minutes under race conditions.

Anyway - I'm sure some won't agree with this - but hey, just my thoughts.

Same here - I don't even want a 30C pack because 20C packs suit my vehicles more than adequately. I still remember the days of 10C, and have a couple 10C packs laying around.

Yeah, I'd say >30c is not really that important. I'd like to see more capacity at the same size/weight.

I have a feeling maxamps will bring out lipos that are smaller, have more capacity and higher c ratings. They will also be able to do this with aboslutely no test data to back up their specs. And if you buy enough of them they will give you 20% off.

I think you have a point VintageMA. Until someone comes out with a hydrogen fission cell then we will have to rely on high capacity lithium batteries.

I totally agree, I think that the only ones looking a c rating anymore, besides newbs, are touring car guys and speedrun guy's, they are the only ones that really need those c rated numbers. I use 20c for two reasons, 1. They fit my needs perfect, 2. They are getting cheaper, with the high rated ones coming out, its easier and cheaper to get the lower (20c) stuff. I'd to like to see higher mah ratings, with lower size and weight

I'm in. I'd like higher capacity and equal weight rather than C rating. After all 8Ah @ 20C = 5Ah @ 32C max-current-wise, but better runtime - provided they weight the same...

My truck can't handle higher capacity than the two 5000 3s packs I run. I never get a full run out of these because I decide to get retarded and jump it 20 feet in the air and break it. I think with higher capacities come higher temps and potentially burned up motors and ESCs. But I would like to see lighter packs of the same capacity, the same idea you have.

thats because of traxxas jk kidding man, but seriously i doubt that temps and burnt up things will be an issue, i ran my buggy and truggy last weekend for about 3 hrs combined and they never broke 110 on anything, i love it

As long as they fit in a Buggy or Truggy and can stand up to 100 amps continuous I'm good. 10AH or more would sure be nice. I've got 8AH Maxamps batteries, but they get sucked down faster than my 5AH Zippy-H

Not sure on your setup, but i got a 1515/2.5d neu on 4 and 5s that will run all day if i asked it to. I also have run my MM4600 in a T4 electric on a 8000 mah maxamps 7.4 lipo (40+minutes) without thermalling, ESC was 140* and motor was 164 at cut -off. If you have thought out and properly selected parts, you shouldn't even need a fan on a setup.

I believe that will be the next big thing, once the C rating wars have died down. Remember, thats how NIMH rolled forever, capacity ruled. I'd like to see a 2s 8000 mah 20c the size of my 2s 4900 20c flightpower, that would sell like hot coca in the arctic

you got to get a hold on that retarded streak as well, or invest in some heavy duty parts
