RC8 vs Losi8 vs Xray vs Xb808 - 11.19.2008, 06:13 PM

I have decided I want to add a buggy to the garage...is one just as good as another?....is Xray superior?.........i'm leaning towards losi because of the offset center diff.....but xray has this also?........is offcenter a big deal?

some say the RC8 has a fragile front end and it doesnt have big bores and you need to do the shock mod to make them work good, the losi is a great buggy but everyone ive talked to said the parts wear fast (arm and hubs and driveline gets slop and play), the xray is solid a pleasure to build, ULTRA tough, and the fit and finish is second to none, some people complain about parts support for the Xrays but i havent ever needed a part yet.

you cant go wrong with any of them, all handle well, it really depends on what kind of flavor you want. and plus the xray is metric and the losi and standard and i think the RC8 is standard too? migth be wrong but i wouldnt have any of those but an xray simply because it uses metric hardware and the qaulity of their parts and kits.

love my 8ight buggy conversion (used the tekno v3 conversion) and HIGHLY recommend!! This thing hasn't had a broken part in 2 months of racing.

I'd say you would be happy with any of the 3. I persoanlly like Xray, but the Losi and RC8 are both great buggies as well. All have minor plus and minus IMO, so just so some reading up on the 3 and make your pick. I dont think you can make a wrong one with those 3 as your choice.

If you are looking to go budget... I saw a bunch of the 8ight race rollers going brand new for REALLY cheap all over the place because Losi just released the 2.0 version so you might be able to snag a deal if you arent worried about the minor changes they made to the new version.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

yea thats a hell of deal actually cheaper than the D8....

the Eights are NICE and excellent handling buggies i personally just have a grudge agianist anything that doesnt use metric hardware. but id take the losi over the RC8 if your leaving them pretty much stock (chassis wise.)

Id say pay the extra bux and get an Xray! After a full season the XB808 is still like new, no slop, nothing broken and drives alot better then the Rc8 and 8ight.
You get what you pay for IMO... I ran the Losi all last season and was never comfortable driving it. Was always very loose and sloppy (plastics). Broke arms, shocks, spent a ton of money on clutch bearings and shoes not to mention 4 throttle servos but if you're converting you wont need to worry about that... my vote still stands with Xray though!!

Comparing the losi 8 I had to my ofna hyper8 I was disappointed with the losi... Sold the losi and kept the hyper. I would go with the xray, their stuff is very nice.

If I was getting a new buggy (thinking about it), I would get a D8. But I do like the xray quality, just not the price.

If I was getting a new buggy it would either be the Xray or Kyosho or maybe the new 8ight 2.0. Only thing I have broken on the 8ight after much abuse is a bent shock shaft (my fault) and a antenna tube from landing on the roof to much

Airtronics MX3 2.4Ghz
TP 5S 5000mah
