What motor??? - 12.11.2008, 12:37 PM

I have converted my Hyper 7. I have a MMM V3. I will be running 2 3s 5000mah lipos in series. I am looking at the Medusa motors. I need to know what would be the best hoice for me. I need this thing to have alot of speed.

I would love a neu, but I can't afford it lol.

Define "a lot of speed" because that makes a big difference.

Normally, I'd say a Medusa 60, but that would be for typical 35ish mph gearing. If you want high speeds, step up to a Medusa 70 or even 80 motor for the added torque (I'd go with the 80).

Then, just pick the kv that will yield ~35-40krpm at the battery voltage you plan to run for speeds around 50mph.

If this is for speed runs over 60mph, pick a kv that will yield ~45k rpm. Yeah, the rpm is a bit higher than normal, but you may need those rpms.

Well, I need enough speed to be able to jump a B52.

I am not sure how to calculate the RPM to Kv, verses voltage.

So, around 60mph then?

total rpm = voltage * kv.

So, if you need around 35000 rpm and are running 4s lipo , that would be a kv of 2364. (35000rpm / 14.8v).

So for a 6s I should probably run around a 1600Kv?

If you are looking for insane speed, you need to figure on the 60k limit as it will drop under load. HOWEVER, you will not have runtime!!

Or a 36-60 if you don't want to wait.

What kind of run time would I have with a 5000mah 6s on that motor?

What would I loose or gain by going with the 36-60?
