Hobbycity and Turnigy? - 12.28.2008, 09:44 PM

OK, this is the last 1, I promise. As u all know, Im looking to go lipo and bl on the cheap. For lipo I want the Turnigy accucell-6, and zippy 3s 5000mah 20c and/or flightmax 2s 4000mah 25c. Now, I was looking at the Turnigy Plush 100a esc vs. EZrun 60a esc. Whichever I choose will power a pede and WK. Next, I was wondering if there are any reliable BL motors on Hobbycity.com, or any notable servos. Thanks in advance and pls dont h8 me!!

I don't mean to insult your choices, but if you read around here, they have all been tried and given pretty much a thumbs down, or we would all be running them. Hit up The Monster, enjoy sales and service, or enjoy China and dont cry to us.

I wouldn't even consider the plush an option for a 1/10 scale car, No reverse, no brakes, delayed start up, and it is HUGE. It is usable for a 1/8 scaler with mech brakes, but there are much better options. I havn't messed with any of the ezrun stuff. I honestly would just take that $70 and put it towards a mamba max. Then you will have a proven esc, good customer service and warranty if somthing fails, and would be capable of running a larger build when you decide to do so. The zippy packs are good, I have no complaints about them. The charger looks pretty nice as well. As for the motors, for a light truck, like a pede, the little 6L 380, works great. You will need an adapter since the pattern on the front is smaller, but I have ran it in several 1/10 scale trucks on 3s and it works great. Another option is for about $30 more than the hc stuff, you could buy a 4600 sidewinder setup or vxl.

^^^^thanks for the input, i just read in another thread about the crappyness of the plush. Now my top options are to go with the EZrun stuff (i found a 9t, 60a combo with programming card for $90 on swanghobby.com) or to snag the MM and a pair of motors. Just wondering, but can anyone point me to a thread that well describes how to do the 4s mod for the MM? I think a 10L on 4s in a stampede or WK would be sweet!!

for what its worth, I have 2 mamba maxes, running ubecs and fans, but they have been running 4s for over a year, with no mods. Unless all you are doing is drag racing, and the pede is lowered and extended a couple inches, you won't want that much in it.

A 10l on 3s lipo is plenty for a pede. It is only 2wd, so only so muck power can be put to the ground. If you stick with 3s no mods need to be done to the MM. You can run an external bec and the temps on the mm will be better, but it is not really necessary for 10th scale. 4s is not necessary for 10th either, the vehicles are lighter and do not need the extra voltage. I prefer the simplicity of a stock mm and a 3000-3500kv motor like the traxxas velineon motor, or a feigao 10s - 12s. Either are a great choice for a pede, and will do 40-50mph on 3s lipo with no issues.

The wk will put more load on the batt and lipo being 4wd, but a 10l would throw that truck around on 3s lipo. Not sure if the diffs and tranny would handle that motor... but you can try and let us know!!!!

No prob, glad I could help. If you decide to use the mm combo, get the 4600 as it will run coolest on 3s lipo, the 5700 is a bit too fast on 3s to keep the temps down, even with super low gearing.

I like the 12s feigao the best out of all of the setups I ran on my pede. The truck was mostly stock, so it was not very heavy. I still have 4 pedes, need to finish them up....

the CC 5700 on 2s is just as fast as the VXL on 3s (mine was maxamps 3s 20c 5ah and he had a 2s 4900 flight power though) so who knows, but they were the same speed, but his got really really hot 190* after say 5 1/4 mile runs while mine was chill, but my lipos are now used to start a wood fire in my fireplace all winter as they wont go out

hmmm, i think i will be getting a BK ESC from arkt... on this forum. He told me it will handle any 2 pole motors (im looking at the fiegaos and CCs) and can run up to 5s lipo. Could i do the 10s or even faster, or would that just be overkill in my pede/WK on 3s?? Thanks all!!!
