I have just purchased 2 E-Revos one for my son & one for myself. the intention is to run them stock or close to stock & get his rc driving skill level up & have fun along the way. Now that the units are on the way from USA, I am thinking of upgrading them to improve handling. I have bought some upgrade parts together with the trucks :

I) Revo/Slayer Heavy Duty Servo Saver Spring - I hear that these will improve servo response. So I bought them

2) Revo GTR Shock Springs-orange, 3.2 rate (2)

3) Revo GTR Shock Springs-gold, 3.8 rate (2)

4) Revo GTR Shock Springs-tan, 4.1 rate (2) - I heard that stock srpings re too soft, so I bought some harder ones

5) Revo/Slayer/Revo Platinum Front + Rear Sway Bar Kit - These will improve handling right ?

6) Revo Platinum 17mm Wheel Hubs and nuts, blue aluminum (4) - I have many 17mm LPR wheels so I want these

Are there any parts that warrant an upgrade. I hear of RPM truetrac (spell ?) rear arms setup. Will these help to improve the truck ?

What do u think ? Any other area to improve to make the trucks better / more durable ?

PS : How about this center diff thingy ? Will it fit into the E-Revo gear box ?

All the stuff looks about right, ass for the center diff, that one is for the nitro version, Traxxas does make one for the erevo...here is a link to the correct one.

I'd buy the teknorc sway bars over the traxxas. I have both of them and the traxxas swaybars don't work.

I run the truetracs and I really like them they set the rear up so its slightly inward, and IMO the Revo CD is a waste of money even with 500k fluid

on stock power I wouldnt worry about a CD, but the sway bars, and stiffer springs should make it handle alot better. Other than that I would throw some grippy tires on them and be done with them.

you also may want to keep a couple pushrods on hand, and the ends for them(will also fit the tie rods). Not saying they are weak, but for me they were always the weakest link.

I'm using the springs that came with the E-R EVO for the LT suspension. Not using the LT rockers so I'm just gaining the advantage of the much stiffer springs. With the stock springs it wouldn't take an 8" drop without bottoming out. Even on 5s with a 1515 2.5d I have no need for a center diff, at least not to control wheelies. If you don't over power the trucks in the future I don't think there's much need for a CD. I want to get the sway bar so let me know how much they help! I don't think the RPM True Trac arms are of any use unless you feel the need to start messing with the toe in on the rear and mess it all up. The true tracs hold the toe in at the same as the E-REVO comes from Traxxas. If you break an arm then I guess it wouldn't hurt to upgrade them. I'm going to get the RPM axle carriers because they have bigger bearings, my stock bearings are shot already. As far as breaking pushrods or steering/toe links goes I wouldn't be to worried. I beat the crap out of a 3.3 nitro for a year and only one broke when my Dad nailed a boulder! Haven't had any issues with the one's on my E-REVO. I broke a couple rear body mounts on mine and wound up getting an aluminum one, it took a bit of work to get the wing mount on with it but no more problems with it so far. A couple aluminum diff cups would be a good upgrade if you don't want to shell out the money for the RC-M hybrids. I know I can't justify the cost for them so I'm gonna go with the alum cup and hope for the best, the stock ones have held up so far though. I hope I have been of some help

George16 - pity I already bought the Traxxas ones. Nevermind, will try to make the best of them or maybe just get some tekno ones. Thanks for the info.

sjcrss - thanks. Saw that in Mike's store & thought it's applicable to both types of REVOs

azjc - I'm tempted to upgrade to the rpms. I'll think about the CD

dirt101 - agreed, but BL power is lurking in the corner tempting .... must resist the urge ...

E-Revonut - thanks for your insight. Sorry if I appear ignorant (but I am) nut what's LT suspension ? I think the sway bar will surely help. I shoehorned some on my savage & they made a big difference in handling. Should be the same for the REVO. I also worry about the front / rear diff. I hear that they are not using 6 spider gears but only 4.

LT = Long Travel. Standard suspension is 90mm travel, LT is 120mm travel. LT requires changing the rockers and springs, both come with the truck. The springs are just much stiffer, don't remember exactly which colors and rates off hand but the springs work pretty well with the standard suspension.

Easy to do and a cheap performance upgrade.

Also a few sets of tires. I like Losi Grips for loose soil, and
Crimefighters for more hard pack. I am also curios about the
new AKA's line of tires. Anyone try these yet?

I gave my younger brother a 1st gen lunchbox when it became available not that long ago & a couple of years ago, gave my son a rere one. They are a blast !

Unfortunately, you'll almost never see my buggies / trucks 'cause I'm behind the camera & I don't let my nitro heads friends drive for me.

I am using silver springs in the rear and gold in the front with 50wt oil in all 4 , seems to be working great , not too bouncy in the small stuff and will still take the big jumps without slapping the chassis too hard .

For durability I would look into the Lunsford pushrod/turnbuckle set or if you want too save a little the Integy titanium set , though the Lunsfords are better and have a lifetime warrantee against breaking/bending .

The red Traxxas pushrod/turnbuckles are good also , but I have broken a few from hitting other trucks .

As for the Traxxas sway bars not working , well I am not sure about that one , I have seen the vid and it doesnt prove much besides the fact that compressing one side of the suspension all the way doesnt lift the other wheel ? Just my opinion .....

joeling you also might want too gear down a couple teeth on the pinion if your gonna run NiMh batteries , I killed 2 of mine because they couldnt supply enough juice .

Or just go LiPo from the start and put a LVC on the ESC .

Unfortunately, I am restraining myself from spending more money on rc this month. Gotta wait till next month to buy the upgrades & stuff. Hopefully, the batteries will last until then.

Ok they're here. My boy chose the blue one while I get the red one.

I've just gone through the manual briefly & it seemed there's quite a lot of tuning options available to the E-Revo especially on the suspensions.

Anyway, just made up 2 packs of 7 cells for myself while my son gets the 2 6 cell packs. The sway bar kit I ordered is incomplete. So, I guess I'll be getting the Tekno ones in the near future.

I have changed the springs to the LT springs as the original ones were just too soft. With the heavy Nimh batteries, they sagged badly.

The next upgradefor my truck is to slap on some BL power. My son's will retain the stock power/drive combo until he becomes better. I already have a spare MMM, Neu 1515 2000KV motor. Still trying to figure out what configuration works the best for this truck.

I have since slapped on some half offset LPR Crime Fighters on one of the trucks. Hmm, it looked kind of wide not proportionately correct. What sort of wheels is eveyone using ? Normla offset, half offset ? What works good & looks pretty ?
