Not to argue with the master but the female Traxxas plug does have a spring in it for preassure. That I know for fact as I just picked up a pack to double check it.

I have pushed about 140 amps them and they have not melted, if you are running at least 6s I wouldnt worry about amp ratings. I agree with Brian that it would be too much hassle for whats its worth to change all my connectors. FE boat owners prefer bullet connectors but they mostly run 4s/ high amps in thier setups

Is it a leaf type? I will admit soldering up a bunch of them is my only experience. The spring you mention does explain my experience with varing tightness... I was not impressed enough to change all of my deans, but that would be about 300 bucks worth of swapping.

Yes it is a leaf type spring. I agree that it wouldn't be worth changing everything over. By no means am I putting deans down either, I do use them. I feel that the traxxas ones have a slight edge on larger scale vehicles though. At the very least the traxxas plugs do deserve a look for someone gettinginto the hobby and would be starting off from nothing.

Certainly, they are an alternative. They are definately easier to get apart without plugging on the wires. I still pull on the wires... But at least I get a mechanical check on the solder joint every time I use a battery.
