Slight cogging issue w/mm esc and Tekno/Neu 1509 3300kv on 3s - 02.11.2009, 10:10 PM

I have a slight issue w/ cogging. At full throttle look out! WOW is that truck fast..however, at almost a stand still, hop on throttle and it stutters a bit for 2 sec. then it is fine.

My esc settings: 1509 2DF 3300kv w/mm esc on 3s

1. low start power
2. 10% punch control
3. 60% brakes w/reverse delay
3. lvc to 3.2 v/cell
4. timing to 2

I don't remember the pinion size..16T I think?

Could I need to braid motor wires a bit...it seems to happen more often when it is farther away than when it is close.

What batteries - I used to get that with an MGM just on launch when my batteries couldn't cope...

Also FM radio so could be interference but i would think unlikely.

Check the motor leads to...

What about the motor timing...it is set on 2 now. It is a D wind motor, so should I advance it a tad?

You could try re-routing the BEC servo cable around the other side of the CD. Having it run right next to the MM servo cable like that for that long would give me the jitters, too.

Why would running the in the same protective covering be a prob.? Both wires are inside that white wrap in the pics. Would one cause interference?

You said that the jittering was worse when the truck was further away, and that would suggest radio interference. The BEC output might cause interference when in such close proximity to the MM's signal wire. It is after all a switching BEC, so some RFI could be leaking into the output leads. You may even want to wrap the BEC in aluminum foil to shield everything. It's all I could come up with aside from MM settings, but that's been suggested already.

I could try that...thanks for the tip! I like my builds to be clean and tidy....so I may have to break tradition and move a couple of things around to see if that helps.

Just run another length of that plastic coil stuff around the other side. Then it will stay looking clean. Or just relocate the BEC to the chassis in-between the motor/servo.

I will run a new piece of clear coil and see what happens.

I think you would want to lower the motor timing and possibly raise the start power in the linc settings

<a href=http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k137/darrajsam/bottomline.jpg target=_blank>http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...bottomline.jpg</a>
I used a "bottom" line.

The timing is on 2 right now...may be I could raise the start power first and see what happens?

increase the start power but i would check those 3.5mm motor leads - they suck
